(Associated Press) Our AutoNation spy photographer, John Johnson, was busy this week with the camera in what appears to be the first-ever spy photograph of the highly anticipated redesign of the Mazda MX-5 Miata. Asked of his opinion of the small two-seat roadster John photographed, John said, "Yeah, Jack, the next Miata, a fast-looking two-seat hot-rod, appears to have dropped its rear-end exhaust system in favor of a Dodge Viper-style sidepipe regime. This agressive treatment of the new car seems to extend to the rear fenders, where they are flared. Anti-roll bars were also evident in the car I caught doing laps on this Dearborn Michigan racetrack." Below is our spy photographer's only shot of the car. "It was going so fast around the track, my camera's film speed couldn't keep up." John said.

Spy photo of the 2010 Miata. Notice the fender flares and sidepipes that cast an agressive profile.
