Well, the past couple of days have been nice here and that has sparked me to start getting rid of all the winter filth on my car. It was around 7'c yesterday so I gave my car a nice wash, at which point I noticed a fair amount of surface scratches. So I went to Canadian tire and bought some Nu Finish scratch doctor and tried to get rid of the scratches the best that I could. Some disappeared ,some got better and some didn't do anything at all. By this time it was around 8:30 so i decided to call it quits and do some homework.

Today i had a late start to class so I decided to check my fluids (i neglected this throughout winter..im bad) I knew I needed power steering fluid so I topped that off and it seems better. I'm due for an oil change so I'll do that this weekend. After school I took it home, cleaned out the inside and decided to fix an issue with my AC and heat controls. The knob that changes which vent the air comes out could not be forced into the vent that blows on the face ect. After some assessment I noticed some foam inside the dash had come loose which was preventing the vent from moving into its proper location. I took the cover off on the top of the dashboard for the vent that blows on the window and looked at the vent and the moving contraption that directs the air and found the piece of foam that was stopping it from moving, i tried putting it back in place, I tried moving it out of the way but nothing worked. So i thought, well, its been out of place for a while and i haven't noticed anything change so i just cut it off and the vent now works 100%.

I went to the gas station to buy some washer fluid and vacuum my car, but as soon as i got to the vacuum to start...it started to snow/rain which was a big disappointment. So that will have to wait until tomorrow.

I'm happy now. Has anybody else started getting rid of winter off their car? Or started getting their winterized cars ready for spring / summer?

Washed the Malibu a day before taking her to the dealer for service, and what do you know, it rains the very next day and completely negates what I spent an hour the previous day doing.

i detail other peoples cars.............not mine. :(
I did that when I was younger. Maybe that's why I'm such a slob today. I'll spend 3-5 hours cleaning out the interior of my cars, but that's like once a year--literally. You would be surprised how many times in my life I've been asked if I bought a new car or truck after spending half a day on the outside--they're usually just nasty.

The weather up here has been very inconsistent. Sun and 47 degrees one day and then 4 inches of snow the next. So i leave the outside alone.

The inside however I have been very adamant about keeping clean. Its almost time to remove the rubber mats and show off my premium floor mats in all their 'aura' embroidered glory. I'll have to get to the carpet on the side of the center console soon. Its getting a little dirty.

Well, I got the Z06 out for the first time few weeks back. Even though most of the snow is melted, there is still sand on the roads, and potholes all over <gotta watch for those>.

I gotta wash 'er though.

It's definitely nice to be able to drive the 'Vette again. It takes some getting used to sitting lower, the brakes being more touchy, and the extra power over my '79 K5.

I work with a few Corvette owners, and all winter we would discuss in the hallway what it's like to not be able to drive it. I just say, "Absense makes the heart grow fonder".

I think "Simple Green" is the secret to removing brake dust.

Does anyone concur?
It's very easy to damaga the finish with Simple Green. Maybe if you have wheels that are really far gone - neglected for over a year, no hope of getting them perfect, just to clean them - but not if they are in good shape. Try Megiuar's Wheel Brightener for a thorough cleaning. If they are not needing an extensive cleaning, just some car wash soap and a soft brush/wash mitt/toothbrush will do fine.

I am going to clean up my car tomorrow. I don't carew that it's going to rain Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday - the car needs it, as rain has not been beading on it lately.

I've been using for 10-15 years...I buy a "generic" form of it @ the local Farm & Fleet store called "Jungle Jake" from Stearns Packaging of Madison, WI...

Normally it's $5.99 @ gallon, this week on sale for $4.49 @ gallon...

I use it for cleaning wheels, tires and under the hood...it makes for an excellent degreaser...then rinse with a liberal (sorry Hoosier Ron) amount of water...I've even cut it down for carpet shampoo in the vehicles, although the scent lingers on for a spell-that might be a positive or a negative to some depending on your sense of smell...

Washed my truck the other day, I have yet to clean the interior out. I was going to do it today but it was pretty chilly and windy so I decided against it. I did flush and refill my radiator today though. Now after I get my valves adjusted, my truck will run like a pickel seeder again!!! 215k and still runs like a new one, and gets 18mpg!

I cleaned my Fleetwood sometime during the middle of 2007. It's fairly heinous right now. The interior is clean, as I don't eat or drink or smoke or copulate or do anything inside the car that would leave residue or dirt. I shake the floor mat out every couple of weeks, and that's about all it needs (besides a dash dusting) to keep up appearances.

Is it just me, or do you find that all stray cans/bottles find there way out the door every time they are opened in the K Blazers?:)
