EXCLUSIVE PROOF: The Mid-Engined Chevrolet Corvette Is Happening!
Our exclusive mule sighting confirms that Chevrolet means mid-engine business.
Car and Driver

Behold, mid-engine Corvette fans: The car you’ve waited patiently for Chevrolet to build has finally evolved beyond titillating concepts to the engineering mule revealed here. An 82-second strike by our recon op resulted in 15 frames before security narcs dropped the curtain on this black test car—with its two occupants still inside.

Don’t fret over the pointy-pickup camouflage; more attractive attire will follow. Instead take solace in a cabin hugging the front axle, ample space between the ****pit and the rear wheels for the hot parts, and this Corvette’s crouched and ready attitude.

The nose clip is from Holden Commodore SSV (with even wider flares), while the cabin module, roof, and exterior mirrors are hand-me-downs from today’s Stingray. A Holden SSV ute’s sheetmetal wraps door to door around the heinie. The wing keeps the tail planted during high-speed runs and what could be more practical than the bumper-mounted 2x10 for shoving this test sled back to the garage when it breaks down? Other items of note: The fuel-filler located on the driver’s-side B-pillar and the cooling intakes located along the rocker panels.

Nice find. Is it April fools or did we just get a late Christmas present?!

Woow, I am suffering from terrible backache due to injury but this thing made my day. So glad to see all the news turned out to be real.

The unprecedented midengine Zora is on the way...

I'm glad GM is still interested in the mid-engine Corvette concept as I've still got a soft spot for the Corvette Indy from ~30 years ago.
Or are they working on a Corvette pickup truck

Pretty cool, though I've always like the front engine, rwd look over the mid-engine look. But if it improves performace - let's do it!!!!!! I can't wait, the C7 already makes the expensive Europeans look like questionable uses of money (ok, the whole sports car segment is that), but if they have a mid-engined Vette that is just as good if not better than the $250,000+ Lambo's, Ferrari's, etc. then go GM and turn the world upside down!
I had assumed that this was another thread full of pure speculation. I'm floored that C&D actually got pictures of the test mule. Wow....I can't imagine the kind of performance the Corvette team can squeeze out of mid-engine configuration. *grabs his popcorn*

Get well soon!
The Frankenvette...I know it is a mule, but wow that is a cobbled together car.

Will be interesting to watch, may be a nice addition to the vette family...

I actually want that test mule, looks badass!
Way to Lotus looking for me. This can't be anywhere near to actual car we will get.
Question is, is it a family addition or a replacement ?
