Next-Gen 2027 Chevy Silverado Prototype Spied Testing: Photos
GMAuthority

March 3, 2025

In 2024, GM Authority exclusively brought you the first details about GM’s next-generation full-size half-ton pickup trucks – the Chevy Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500. Now, our spies have just caught the very first prototype of what we believe is the 2027 Chevy Silverado.

Good find! I hope they have redesigned/eliminated the goofy cab spoiler and leaking rear slider. Better seats and more cushion would be welcome also. The side mirrors either need moved back up, or get rid of the plastic space filler where the mirror mount should be.

The current interior layout is pretty dang good. A few minor tweaks would work. One would be to switch the speedometer and tachometer placement, so they'll return to the correct sides. 😁

Why do you say it needs to be on the correct side? I have a new Silverado and see nothing wrong with the layout.
Tachometer should be on the left, speedometer on the right.

The digital Gauge cluster already allows you to switch the speed and tach placement unless your talking about the old interior in the Custom trim.
You cannot switch the tachometer and speedometer locations on the new digital cluster. You can change how they appear, but not location.

Says who? Why does the Tach have to be on the left and speedo on right? Theres no law that says so, if its your personal opinion then thats fine. But it shouldnt be the normal, now would you refuse to buy a car if it looked different?

it still has it - doesn't look drastically different to me....

Just as Ford delayed until 2028. 👌🏻
Ford seems rudderless right now.

So is this a heavy refresh or an all new?

The poor design of the spoiler addition, cab changes for such, and cheap rear sliding window frame is what has caused many owners to have leaking rear windows. Many don't even realize it until it's too late and the ceiling, floor or seats are ruined.

GM has known about this going on 6 years and they haven't done anything. There are already some reports of 2025s having this issue.

Roof spoiler appeared with the 2019 redesign. It's very well integrated:

The spoiler to me is not all that repulsive, what is though is that they still have yet to properly fix the leaking slider issues. The fail rate was pretty high on them and the hack fixes they used were unacceptable imo! It would be totally like GM to just use the same slider and frame design knowing that it has issues, but also knowing they have a large amount of part stock they want to use up!

Gm this is for you- Things to fix -Allow the bed light to turn on while your driving to view cargo -Increase the side mirrors available up/down angle. I have to duck my head down to get a clear view. -Increase the interior dome light illumination. -Allow the idle to run more than 15 minutes before auto shutoff -make integrated tail gate and side steps larger so they are actually usable. Grown men Boots don't fit. -bring back an actual rain drip edge at doors. Water pours right in on your head. -widen the truck seats, minimally move more toward the center. Current design has you sitting to close to the doors -increase the comfort of the seats, if we want stiff seats we would buy a Ford -install an override for the seatbelt ding. We know if the belt isn't on and your not our Mom.

• I can turn the cargo lights on while driving with a push of a button on my '21.
• Bumper steps work just fine with my 10 H steel toes. However, I WOULD like to see the bedside step from the 2500's on the 1500s. Can't reach small things over the bed sides from the ground.
• Never remotely understood the owners who want their vehicle to idle & idle & idle. I for one never leave it running and never use remote start. I just don't see the point of it.

Fair enough ~ I'm not in anywhere near that cold of a climate- central eastern seaboard- lowest we saw this winter was high single digits (F) overnight. I did sleep in my prior truck overnight: crew cab, back seat folded, sleeping bag in October. Prolly in the upper 30s. I did not start it up overnight, despite that I kept waking up because I couldn't get totally comfortable.

That said- I also frequently get into my truck in temps down to the low 20s and I never remote start it first.

If it’s in the 30s I leave a window open and use a light blanket. I regularly use quilts and a good sleeping bag, but when it gets into the sub zero temps it gets uncomfortable. It’s different when I’m winter camping, but when sleeping in the truck I don’t want to layer up and deal with it. And when my water freezes and I have to thaw it out before making coffee in the morning, that gets irritating. I will keep water in the cooler, but it will still freeze. And im not going to pay for heat bags to keep my cooler warm lol. (I know you didn’t suggest that). When you are on the road and have to pull over instantly and are stuck there for a day or more it’s about survival. I don’t like idling my truck, but when I need to, I want to be able to.

I don't let my vehicle run for hours when its cold, just 5 minutes or so in the morning to warm it up or a few minutes if I have to wait on someone that runs into a store. When its gets super cold its pretty much mandatory to warm it up a few minutes. Of course I've seen some let it warm 30 minutes which is nuts imo.

Nice street tread tires tho... ;)
