I'm gonna wait.

they're still working the bugs out of it
I don't think you're going to find many bugs. The 04 GTO is a new GTO... but not a new car. I'm pretty sure this version of the Commodore has been out since at least 1997.

I'm waiting because I'm still hopefull GM will make the car complete by actually making it look good.

Also, I don't think the Judge option appearance package will be very good at all. I'm come to the conclusion that the new GTO is too tame to make it look exotic. Basically, putting a spoiler and hood scoop on this car is very similar to doing so on a Honda Civic. Sure the GTO is actually pretty fast, but it will still look odd.

But you're undoubtedly going to lose money...

For me, speed is the biggest factor and my 98 T/A will currently blow the doors of the 04 GTO (no, it's not stock).

From my point of view, selling it and buying a GTO would be a downgrade.

Maybe if the 05 has 405 horsepower, I'll consider it.

Or maybe Pontiac should start using historical numbers, and make it have 421 horsepower. :) It's not like they haven't played games with numbers before anyway.

Oh don't worry, most Fbody owners stay on real roads... where we will own the GTO repeatedly.

None of that driving-glove-wearing, autocrossing junk... and honestly it will still be very close on the track.

Well, the new GTO isn't marketed at the same crowd the Fbodies are.

04 GTO -> Guys going through a mid life crisis, but can't get a vette for some reason (price, practicality, etc)
4th Gen Fbodies -> Performance enthusiasts

Sure, there will be modded GTOs, but odds are you won't run into one as often as you would a modded Fbody. There's going to be way more of the Fbodies around. Also, add in the fact that the GTO's are heavier, lose less horsepower though the drivetrain, etc... your average GTO isn't going to compete with your average fbody on the street.

At least until the 05's come out.

GM's trying to play off the new GTO like it has a link to the old GTO's.. which I don't think it has.

The new GTO may be more well rounded, but a Jack of All Trades isn't going to take on the Master of One Fbodies on their home turf.

I agree though that the new GTO addons will go a long way in gathering Fbody owners.

Well, yes. I ran 13.1 my first run with my LS1 bird.

See, where I actually own one, you get to read about them in magazines.

I'll help you actually learn something, go here. It is a magical place where "people" actually "own" the "cars" they talk "about."

No, your ignorance shows again. I implied you didn't have an LS1 powered Fbody.

And for the record, I have two.. a 98 LS1 and a 78 6.6L.

I'm willing to bet that Nocturn_Bird's "pure pontiac" 79 T/A is probably a oldmobile powered T/A. :mf_boff:

My friends 02 Vette ran a 13.3 with 20 mroe hoespower and 3-400 LBS
You mean 200 pounds less, first of all. And the fact that you think the time my 98 ran is some how less accurate because your friend's vette shows that you are a mag racer and probably have never seen a drag strip.

my friend sold his vette for expense reasons and now drives a 02 WS6 he said himself it wasn't as quick in a straight line or around turns.
Oh gee really, does he live on the planet earth? Maybe your friend drinks water too? Does he breath air? God damn, could you state anything more blatantly stupid. OF COURSE a Corvette is going to be faster, but not by much. I'm willing to bet his Corvette had wheels.

Were the windows made of glass? Maybe you could compare the glass in the fbodies to a Corvette too, I'm sure there has to be some kind of difference there, that Captain Obvious could point out to us.

If you've ever checked out LS1.com, you'll quickly find my car wasn't a "Factory Freak."

There are other people who have ran the same types of numbers stock.

Now when Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords got a stock Camaro SS deep into the 12's... well that was a freak (or karma).

The only performance gain you get from the LS6 block is the fact it is STRONGER if you MOD IT. Nothing else. In stock configuration, the LS1 will blow something else long before the LS1/LS6 block cracks (unless you really, really, REALLY **** up).

It has no relevence to stock drag racing.

FYI, drag racing is a contest of acceleration between two drivers. Just so you know what has been discussed. :mrt:
