Scoop: 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Gets Classy S-Class Style Interior.

We've caught the first spy shots of the next-gen Mercedes-Benz E-Class' cabin and there's good news if you liked the styling and feel of the latest S-Class.

You could say that the new E-Class' dashboard is a poorer or less wealthier man's version of the one found in the S-Class, as it has a similar design and layout missing out on some goodies such as the full digital instrument cluster, though, we wouldn't be surprised if it was offered as an option.

As with the W222 S-Class, the dashboard cowl extends to the center console covering the integrated (but slightly smaller in width) infotainment screen controlled familiar and intuitive COMAND rotary switch on the lower console, with four, aviation inspired air vents spread out. The classic clock has been moved under the A/C controls. The S-Class' interior design has won praise from critics and consumers alike, so we expect much of the same to apply for the new E-Class.

Besides the more elegant and chic styling, passengers should enjoy more space inside with the E-Class riding on a longer and wider version of the brand's MRA (Mercedes Rear-wheel Architecture) that underpins the latest C-Class, which is expected to help shed some weight over the current model.

The next E-Class will have a mix of engines found in the smaller C-Class and the bigger S-Class, and possibly debut Merc's rumored inline-six petrol and diesel engines that will replace the V6s producing up to 400hp.

We should see the E-Class gaining at least one AMG Sport model as well as a plug-in hybrid variant. The range will be topped off by the E63 AMG models wearing the same 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 used in the AMG GT coupe and C63 AMG developing close to 600hp.

Four body styles will be on offer, including the sedan, station wagon, coupe and cabriolet, with the E-Class to be introduced in 2016.

It certainly looks like the upcoming E is bringing it all to the table. The CTS MCE and CTS NG have their work cut out for them...

Way too early rule out the Gen4. Honestly, BMW & Lexus should be worried. Their interior is the worst in the segment. Jag may try to upgrade their's, but the XE is a bad indicator.

The E-class in recent years became a fuddy duddy car, famously described by a major auto publication as "a sedan with a column shifter that drives like one." Nice to see MB giving it a caffeine injection like they did with the C-class.
That interior looks quite "stuffy" to me. The impression I get is "old man's car," which seems okay for the S-Class, but wrong for the E.

I didn't rule it out, I simply said that they need to up their game if they want to be best in class. Mercedes-Benz isn't messing around with the new E if the C is any indicator.

The XE interior is horrendous:

Well, old men do make up the majority of sales for cars like the E Class...
Looks kind of plain, but it does appear to be unfinished.

I will again wait for Mgescuro to show up and tell me what I need to think about this.

I think this should be so:

CT6 2016 gets a all new interior's style.

CTS 3 refresh (2017 MY, probably) takes some details CT6 interior.

CT7/CT8 (2018-2019) take ultra luxury interior.

CTS 4 Gen (CT4 or CT5) gets completely CT6-style interior.

CT6 refresh takes some details of CT7/8 interior.

Ah, a trickle down effect. I can dig that.
I dig the S Klasse interior, so this is good news in my book. Mercedes is pulling out all the stops to make their interiors feel very luxurious, inspired by the cabin of a private jet. Since they aren't going to win on sport, they have to win on luxury.

True, but my point is I wouldn't buy one, and I'm close to twice your age.

That's depressing, especially after recent years of awesome stuff from Jaguar.

I think I'd rather be behind the wheel of the much more affordable Mazda 6.

Thing is, the average age of an E Class buyer is likely close to three times my age. You're still very young compared to most E buyers.

I liked no Mercedes besides the S and G up until very recently. The new C and E give me reasons to actually like Mercedes.

Yes, please. But what about the V's?

Or be seen in the sexier Mazda3 hatch (or sedan).

Current E sucks, but it was the first Mercedes-Benz product I really liked when it first debuted.

The redesign can't come soon enough.
Funny how they really just mashed up an S-class and a C-class interior. The bigger screen looks much better:

I think Lexus has one of the best interior, my favorite in the segment actually after the C-class. Here's my ranked interior.
