I don't think anybody saw The Zohan anyways, the whole Middle East needs to lighten up.
Yeah, or light up.

We can adapt to 10 dollar gas.

What exactly were they saying?
Who knows? It sounded like they were speaking arabic. The subtitles were in Russian, and the Nissan logo at the end had Hebrew written under it....

I'm not good enough in any of those languages to say for sure, but I think the Saudi Arabian getting into the Lincoln Town Car Limo was declaring a Jihad on small cars...

Something doesn't make sense.

The end of the ad shows Nissan Israel's logo.

But that's not Hebrew spoken by the ad announcer, it's Russian.

This a Russian, not Israeli, ad, made to look like it's Israeli (why would the subtitles be in Russian in an Israeli ad?)

There's foul play afoot...

I found this ad hilarious, though the accent of the Arabian guy is not the accent spoken in the oil producing Arab countries, it is more of the accent spoken in Israel and maybe Jordan; I'm not very familiar with his accent.

What exactly were they saying?
The Sheik was simply outraged due to the losses to his oil business caused by the Tiida's fuel economy, and was praying for the car to have a horrible death.

There are a lot of Israelis from the former Soviet Union, and Russian is commonly spoken by many Israelis, but they've all learned Hebrew (and most have learned English) by now. I just didn't think there were enough Russian-only speakers in Israel to have a car ad in Russian instead of Hebrew!

Then I realized the car's price is 110,990 shekels (you can see "shek" in Cyrillic script behind the price) and that is about what this type of car would sell for in Israel, with the shekel being roughly 5 to the dollar last time I checked.

It's certainly not 110,990 rubles. I don't think 110k roubles would buy a roll of toiler paper these days!

Hmm. There must a crapload more Russians in Israel today than were there when I visited in 1987!

Wow, pissed off an entire country...Way to go Nissan.

http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/06/saudi-arabia-threatens-nissan-boycott-over-israeli-ad/?icid=100214839x1207029464x1200385727

... it's apparent the Saudi's can't take a joke...

Pissed off an entire country? really? do tell.

Pissed off SA government more likely.

I suspect Joe Ave Suadi does'nt think the ad is offensive - and the 20-percent unemployed and probably without personal automobiles would cheer it.

I find it sad and scary that many americans think all Saudis are oil billionaires and have no clue that there are millions of poor Saudis.

- and reading the comments on that autoblog makes me sick. Three posts critical of Israel (one of them being anti-semitic) and all of the sudden everyone and their dog comes to Israel's defense and tear apart the posters critical of Israel.

- then we have 4x as many posts saying garbage like "having dealt with Saudis I know they are a nasty peope" and "I hate rag-heads" and "we should nuc all rag-heads" etc............ and not one post calling out those posters as antisemitic.

- then we have two Saudis posting (and reading all the ignorant hate from Americans toward them) saying the ad is no big deal and they they are not billionaires rolling in oil.

wow, so much ignorance in so many posts over at that autoblog site. sad very sad, I hope those posters do not represent Joe Ave American, if they do, I will glady renounce my citizenship imediately.

You should see youtube. I've actually gotten death threats on youtube and I see people say "I'm going to kill a Muslim later tonight", and then I see on the news that a Muslim lady wearing hijab was beaten with a hammer inside her store.

Seriously, what's wrong with people?

I'm agreeing with you on this. But can you tell me why Saudi Arabians hate Yemeni people? Most Saudis hate Yemeni ppl just like most Americans hate Saudis. And Most Americans think that the whole Middle East is Saudi Arabia and all of Arabia is a oil rich country.

I know alot of saudis have a sense of humor and theres alot of saudis that are poor, but I can tell you this, Most Yemeni ppl are looking at the commercial and laughing, and looking at Saudi Arabia's reaction to this and laughing even more.

The Russian part at the end says, "you'll use so little oil the oil barrons will hate you. Nissan Tiida, the most economical Japanese sedan". I wish I could read Russian so I could see what the subtitles say. I'm pretty sure it's a Russian ad, the Versa is pretty popular over there, well at least in the Ukraine it is.
