The debut is April 11th...

They will be shown before the Autoshow.

This is even posted on the Saturn site:)
I can't tell if the saturn website is stating that you can get the photos on your cell phone April 11th Just before the auto show (which starts the next day) or if the new vehicles will debut on April 11th.

The wording isn't clear. I suspect that we will just get the photos to our cell phones tomorrow with the unveiling on the 12th.

Unless you know something from the inside that we don't know.

Thanks for posting those two images. I can't wait to see it.

Not exactly fair to say that considering the Enclave picture you've posted is a full-body shot of the concept and the Outlook photo is of one headlight and the grille, at at 3/4 view. Also, we've never even seen the Outlook concept....
Very good point. We won't be able to do a side by side comparison until the fall when the Enclave production model is revealed. I predict we will all like the Outlook once we can see the entire vehicle.

Just one more day!!

Better or different depending on your opinion. As long as they aren't relay/terraza style rebadges (which they aren't) GM is starting to turn things around.
Yes, it appears that with the exception of a few examples (Nox/Torrent comes to mind) GM is beginning to leverage the idea of platform sharing and not rebadges. The Lambdas appear to be well differentiated and share the core components to make them good business cases but have different styling and character to appeal to different models.

Sharing steering wheels and radios does not make a vehicle a rebadge. It is when you share everything from sheet metal to dashboards - like the Nox/Torrent.

The Enclave still looks better.

Yes - and it should. It will probably be much higher priced. Although, remember that the Enclave was 95% production. We still don't know what 5% change will do to the look of it. The Aura changed from concept to production and showed that even the small changes (less than concept G6 to production G6) make a big difference.

The Enclave will look the nicest as it is supposed to compete with Lexus, The Acadia will look the truckiest leaving the Outlook to be more mainstream and Honda like.

I like GM's plan for these vehicles and am glad that the first full look we have of the Outlook will be in production form. What we see is what we get.

What post are you responding to? I couldn't find it in the last 3 pages. I must be missing it, because there's no reason to comment on a post that's no longer part of active discussion.

If I can remember correctly, I made the base trim comment in reference to the Aura, which we already know is a base model. The GM sneak peak of the bra/ke light of the Outlook also said XE, not XR, so that was also a base model. So there are two recent examples of base models being displayed. Stay sharp.

Edit: Ah, it's way back on page 1! No reason to think that this sneak peak has to be loaded, when the original Outlook teaser had the badging of a base model unit. See also Aura. I think you are the one making the leap, here.
Yes, several sources have indicated that XE is the base trim - although I imagine it will be well loaded compared to base Malibu and G6 offerings. Clearly the Outlook teasers have been of the base model. Saturn is saving the XR for the show.

Calling them traitors isn't going to win them. Guilt doesn't sell cars, good cars sell themselves.
Exactly. They may have abandoned the domestic car ship - but I wouldn't call them traitors. Not even on a GM site. It will just piss them off. We know what they are - but like Bob Lutz said: "Product Product Product" That is what we need to win them back.

I think we will see some of this "Product" on Wednesday.

From what I can see, it looks good.

For A.V.:
When have manufacturers shown a sneak peek of a base model? Does that make sense? This is the loaded unit.
If all you are doing is showing teaser shots of the exterior it doesn't make that much difference. Now you are right - when it comes to press releases - all manufacturers ever do is show the fully loaded model - which I expect to see on Wednesday.

However, the rear quarter sneak peek of the Outlook is clearly marked XE which has been confirmed to be the base model. I expect the same holds true for the Aura. If GM really wants to compete with a higher level of vehicles then they are going to have to start giving their base models more standard equipment which is exactly what I predict will happen with the Aura and Outlook. If you want the base model then go and buy a stripped Malibu or G6. I expect the Aura and Outlook to come standard with many items that are options on the lesser GM brands.

If GM were smart they would anticipate the public and media's expectation that their cars will be lame - leak sneak peeks of the base model (while everyone thinks this is the fully loaded model) and then blow everyone away on Wednesday in New York with the XR model of each of these vehicles.

We all jumped the gun over the 3.9L replacing the 3.6L V6 - now I think we are jumping the gun over these images being the top trim level. I predict that they are not. We will see the XR trim level at the show. I think GM (Lutz) is pulling out all the stops to give Saturn the best chance of survival it can. If the Sky Redline and the upcoming Aura Redline aren't proof - then I don't know what else they can do.

I have high hopes for Saturn and I for one can't wait to see the top line versions of each of these vehicles in a day and a half.

What good is 325hp in FWD? I don't see how you could have one but not the other.
It really depends. Remember the 300 HP Cadillac STS? It used to be FWD. While RWD or AWD is preferable - the high horsepower FWD vehicles can be done. Besides, we don't yet know what the torque level will be. It might be that AWD would make the car to heavy or costly.

Besides - it would be interesting if Saturn did become an AWD line. Just imagine if all of the Redline vehicles were AWD (with the exception of the Sky? VUE, Astra, Aura and Outlook.

Either way - I will be happy if we get that engine to begin with.

The XR Outlook and AURA have a lot more chrome than the pic shows. Have you seen the difference of the VUE with the Chrome Package and without. A big difference! And the Redline Aura should be all-wheel drive, but that is still up in the air, but 325 hp is not.
Sounds good. Yes, I have seen the VUE with the Chrome Package (a neighbor has a silver 2006 VUE with the Chrome Package and it looks awsome). The big question is if the pictures of the Outlook and Aura are the XE or XR. My gut feeling is that they are both the XE trim level and that GM is saving the XR for Wednesday.

More importantly can the 6T40 and 6T45 handle that much torque?

And is the embargo up at 12AM eastern or 12AM Central (Detroit's time zone (i think)).
No mention was made of the torque. I can't remember exactly, but the new transmission can handle up to either 280 or 300 ft/lbs of torque.

Usually embargos are tied to the eastern time zone - so those of us in Texas will get the pics in about 32 hours!

The trim levels is correct. The interior is nicer than the SKY. You guys will love it! The trim levels will also apply to the AURA too. The REDLINE AURA will come out after the first of '07. It will be at least 325 hp:yup:
I guess we know what Saturn will show at NAIAS?! This is too cool.

Great news on the Redline Aura. So do you know what trim level the Aura and Outlook pictures are? They appear to be XE (at least for the Outlook) is this correct? If so, that means we haven't seen the XR yet - which should be even better.

Reminds me of a Audi Q7
It is hard to say - but I see some similarities - if you can say that only seeing a front quarter view. I am dying for some more pics. I can't wait to get the cell phone pics tomorrow... less than one day.

From what we have been told around 10-11am eastern time. Wait till you guys see the new VUE concept too!
Cool - thanks for the info.

So what can you tell us about the interior of the Outlook?

Also is what we have been told about XE and XR trim levels true?

XE = base
XR = up level

Thanks.

Tomorrow night? I thought it was wednesday morning around 11 am..

Anyways, speaking of best and worst, its do or die for Saturn. Last chance IMO.. Expect a cessation of this brand if things dont work out (in few years ofcourse)
The official debut is on Wednesday morning at 11:00 AM. Usually, the embargo is lifted at 12:01 AM the day of the debut. That would be tomorrow night. I am just assuming that will be the case. Saturn is releasing a few images tomorrow if you sign up with your cell phone. I have done that, but have no way of getting images from my phone to the computer. Hopefully someone does and those can be posted tomorrow.

The anticipation of these new vehicles (Aura and Outlook) is bringing out the worst and best of the members of this site. It is like we are waiting for the last chance for a future for the brand or something....

Oh yeah, we are. None the less, we can all be a little less worked up until we see the full pictures of both vehicles tomorrow night.
