I'm biased, of course, but I would like to see what a next-gen ION would have looked like. I wonder if there were ever any drawings made, or if the decision to bring over the Astra (and completely change Saturn) kept that from happening?

The drawing looks good, but I just see one problem: the IP is not in the center! I'm telling you, people that have never experienced it don't know how great it is. I hate that my next car will almost certainly have a traditional IP.

I really like where you are going with the front end, quite sleek actually, however, the rear end gets a little funky looking for my taste. I don't mean to offend, however the proportioning looks similar to the previous generation of ford cougars... you know, the nearly vertical rear windscreen? sorry...

Trust me, a lot of the complaining you hear is from people who have experienced it. I have a center-mounted one and would gladly give it up to go back to a traditional in-front-of-your-face setup. I have to glance over to see what speed I am going (definately something those of us have to do when we have a lead foot...) and also to see if any emergency lights are going off (my car dings at 37 degrees, and the thermometer is in front of my face, while any of the emergency lights (like low tire pressure monitor which uses the same *ding* if it goes off) are located on the gauge face, in the center of the dash.

To each, his own I guess... I've loved it since day one.

Thanks guys :D

Yeah it's not too out there, it's those pesky sedan proportions that I was practicing with this and so I had to keep things fairly conservative!

And some of you seem worried about offending, I've taken so much criticism all these years, I can take some more!

Yeah, the greenhouse is definitely a bit wonky. You need to incorporate tumblehome; try making the driver side A-pillar steeper, while doing the opposite to the B- and C-pillars.

I'm usually one of your biggest fans, so don't take this the wrong way:

The rims don't go with the car. The headlight area/face is nice, but it's a little too large for the car and I don't like the foglights where you've got them, the fender flare in the back isn't "paired up", I don't like the character line behind the front tires at all (sorry, they're out of place), it's shaped a little like the old Taurus on the side and rear (not really a good thing) and screams Camry in the front and Avalon (or Malibu if you like the shape) in the C posts.

I would like to see you tweak it a little, because there's something cool about it.

The talk of aligning Saturn With Opel predates the launch of the ION by a couple of years, so I doubt there's anything in the way of a next gen ION.

You are in the vast minoitry here. I've heard ramblings similar to yours at SaturnFans.com though. I've only gone on the test drive in one and I hated it. Even sitting in the passenger seat of my friend's ION, I find it weird.

I like the look of Burnsie's sketch here though, very nice, but like others said, the back is missing something, though it's not as ugly as the back of the first ION sedan. I can't imagine why Nissan would want to copy it, either.
