The Fastlane Truck reports that it received an anonymous tip from a GM insider saying that Chevy is working on a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 for duty in one of its trucks.

Information is scarce, but the tipster said that the engine was slated for use in a "high-performance Tahoe and/or Silverado 1500 ZRX."

Although power levels weren't shared, the current supercharged 6.2-liter V8, which powers the Camaro ZL1 and the C7 ZR1 can make between 650 and 750 hp.

That would be ample power for something like a Silverado 1500 to compete against the likes of the F-150 Raptor, which currently makes 450 hp. The Ram Rebel TRX, on the other hand, will reportedly make more than 700 hp.

No word yet on a release date for this supercharged supercar killer.
