The next generation of full-size GM SUV is slated to get its diesel engine in November for the 2021 model year. The report comes from GM Authority, though it cites no specific sources.

Indications are that the Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Tahoe diesels will feature the Duramax 3.0-liter inline 6 LM2 turbodiesel engine. The engine will make 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque for duty here.

The diesel engine will be available on every trim level except the Z71 off-road package.

As has been previously reported, the rest of the engine lineup includes the 5.3-liter L84 V8 and the 6.2-liter L87 V8. They make 355 hp/383 lb-ft and 420 hp/460 lb-ft, respectively.

All the three engines will funnel power to the wheels through GM's hydra-metic 10-speed automatic transmission.
