Will do!Congrats! Would love some pics, as well.
That's a pretty irrelevant statement, considering the car was mostly baked before the bankruptcy was completed.Amazing what infinite taxpayer money can build.
That's a pretty short sighted statement.Amazing what infinite taxpayer money can build.
Very cool, my first question (after what kinda deal did you get; mileage/price/options/etc.) is where about do you live? I parked mine for the winter, which was the plan all along, but as the temps got lower, it lost a bit of its luster. I did drive it through the first half of November, so I do have a few cool-weather tips. So, after spending the last couple of years in the nickel-and-dime stage of our 2006 Impala SS, it's finally time to park it in favor of something new for my wife's daily driver: A super low-mileage 2012 VOLT.
My wife's pretty excited, because besides the old XLR and current ELR Cadillacs, this is her absolute dream car. She's wanted one since she got a test drive at the 2012 LAIAS, and since the math made sense, we made a deal on one. I know we could have gotten a good deal on a 2014 or 2015, but even with the tax rebate, we're still going to be a several grand ahead.
Anyway, I know there are several members here who own VOLTs, so please, feel free to share your opinions and tips for driving this interesting car!
Apparently, they couldn't afford to build it either.......... :lmao:That's a pretty short sighted statement.
The car had most of its engineering and design completed before bankruptcy.
And besides, it was a necessary investment. GM couldn't afford to not do it.
Would they have been weaker? No.Apparently, they couldn't afford to build it either.......... :lmao:
Kidding aside;
Would GM be any weaker TODAY, had they not put one red cent towards the Volt and Voltec?
GM needs a couple really good hybrids, but I think they are afraid it'll eat into the very, very small niche that the Volt has carved out.
Seemingly infinite taxpayer money gets you British Leyland products...Amazing what infinite taxpayer money can build.
Right, that was pretty-much my point. It's like designing a rocket to put a man on Pluto, and then realizing all the other road blocks, that make it un-realistic.Would they have been weaker? No.
On paper and in theory, Volt and Voltec were great long term investments. Sadly, GM hasn't spread Voltec into anything else besides a dud Cadillac coupe. Too bad. Voltec technology in other GM cars would be a game changer in various segments, yet they refuse to spread the technology.
Is your memory that short and defective?Amazing what infinite taxpayer money can build.
Gas won't be at $2.00 foreverA medium Buick Bolt wagon is what GM needs to move this metal.
With gas at $2.00 we should be seeing the I word.
You really think the Volt is what bankrupted GM? Just wow.It was smart of GM to invest all that capital into the Volt and then go bankrupt and need us to bail them out. So they just funded the program in reverse. Now new GM can say they didn't waste billions on the Volt.
