I think he's just pissed off that Australian imports are destroying the US economy.
Personally, I'd prefer to drive a Holden over a Pontiac, that's why my GTO is becoming a Holden like it ought to be. You'd be surprised how hard it is to get Holden parts here.
Funny, thing is the "real" Pontiacs are pretty sorry compared to the G8. The only one I find somewhat interesting is the Solstice. One could argue they haven't made "real" Pontiacs since they quit making Pontiac V8s.
He's probably one of the people that hated the GTO because it:
a. didn't look like a GTO should (what is a GTO supposed to look like anyway?)
b. had a "Chevy" motor not a real Pontiac (GM needed to put the Poncho 455 back into production)
c. was a rebadge of a car you couldn't get in the Western Hemishpere
