I am replacing my stock worn-out pitman arm on a '99 Jimmy 4x4 but the new arm doesn't want to go on all the way. I have confirmed I have the right arm for the truck.

I have tried pushing the new on with the nut and an impact gun, holding it in a vise and using a 3ft breaker bar and slightly proessing it. None of this makes it go all the way on, maybe 3/4 as far as the stockone sat.

Any ideas on how to make it go on farther? Any issues with me just torqueing itdown to 180ft/lbs and leaving it?

Was thinking maybe heating the pressed end with a torch and trying that to help it squeeze it on farther.

Other than if the splines are damaged I can't see what would keep it from going on the rest of the way. I usually just use an impact to draw it on myself.

Is it a GM or other high quality part?

it's a moog part from the local parts store.

Well I took it apart again and I don't think even the sotck one sat flush below the threads. I looks like on the stocker the spline only came 90% through the pitman. I am going to guess this is normal since the spline it sits on is tapered and can only go so far. I gave the pitman just a tab of heat to seat it even so slightly lower and I am going to guess it looks fine.

Only a guess but I think I'll need an alignment forsure after this.
