Recently bought a used 2014 Impala with the PassKeyIII+ security. This car normally comes with 2 FOBs and 2 Keys. No more, and you will see this growing. Dealers and used car lots alike are now selling the FOBs to vendors in bulk quantity. Why? Because it will fill up the dealer service center with a tremendous expense to the owner. Secondly, a wise individual can take a pocket full of these FOBS and rob the neighborhood. I am now considering drafting a letter to the Oklahoma state commissioner and see if there is any legal action in order.
Buyer beware! If you buy one of these vehicles without the FOBs and or spare key, do not leave your auto unattended. Take it to the dealer and have the code changed immediately, at your expense.
GM should have left the code change to the owner. This issue would not be a major theft consort with owners having a false sense of security.
