At the Paris Motor Show (Oct. 4 – 19), Opel arrives fully equipped with two world premieres -- its dynamic new Insignia Sports Tourer with two new engines and the sleek Insignia ecoFLEX model that combines driving fun with fuel efficiency.

Opel’s new station wagon wraps leading technologies in a sporty, premium body at an affordable price. The Insignia Sports Tourer boasts the same athletic, powerful and elegant design as its sedan counterpart. Yet, as Mark Adams, Vice-President of GM Europe Design points up, “this vehicle has is own very unique personality, while still remaining consistent to the new design language that we have developed for Opel.” Sales of the Sports Tourer start in spring 2009.

Two new engines for the entire Insignia class also debut. The innovative 2.0-liter BiTurbo diesel with clean tech combustion system has 190 hp, and the downsized 1.6-liter gasoline turbo engine reaches 180 hp. These two new additions complement the wide range of seven motors – all Euro 5-certified – already on offer for the Insignia.

In addition, Opel will give the world its first glimpse at the new Insignia ecoFLEX, which offers environmentally friendly driving without compromising on performance. In contrast to competitors, it is not a low-end model, but rather a sophisticated, powerful automobile that blends driving dynamics with high fuel efficiency.

I thought I read that Buick was getting the Insignia over Saturn, possibly as the Buick Regal? A mid-sized Estate Wagon could be feasable for smaller familys with stuff to carry. Just my double pennies :)

Someone please tell me the rasoning why we are not getting this here before I have a stroke.
Because GM wants you to buy a Vue or an Outlook instead........

The Insignia Estate is what I have been waiting for in the Wagon dept.
Saturn should get this. AWD/TDI 2.0L/6 speed. I do not need a porker like the Outlook...........

Buick does not need two Epsilons.

GM, Reconsider, Don't be stupid.......

Regarding the Insignia coming over to the U.S. as a Buick, I think it might just be a rebadge for China, but who knows. Honestly I think it should be brought over as the new Saturn Aura, but Lutz is claiming the current one is still young in it's life cycle and still competative. I however respectfully disagree. When the current Aura came over to the U.S. its was re-engineered from the european Opel Vectra, albeit with a longer wheelbase and completely different interior. The Vectra had been selling there for at least a few years, so the Aura was new to us, but not really new. Saturn needs this car now and its needs a decent advertising budget so people actually now the car exists, unlike most of the current Saturn lineup. I've always thought Saturn's current lineup of products have been GM's best, but because GM never advertises Saturn at all and the fact that there are very few Saturn dealerships either the public dosen't know about these cars or potential buyers just don't want to drive 50 miles to find a dealership and would rather buy a car from some place closer.

That is one beautiful wagon. That would be the perfect vehicle to replace my HHR down the road as I'll need something a little bigger. Give it a nice turbo 2.0L on maybe even a small diesel and I would seriously pick one up.

Like others have mentioned not everyone likes and desires an SUV or CUV. There are many people that buy Vovlo V50 or V70 wagons or Jetta and Passat wagons or Audi or Subaru wagons.

GM needs to take a chance and bring something like this to NA. People need to stop saying it won't sell here until GM actually tries. If it turns out the market truely isn't there at least they can say they have tried and then they can pump out another handful of cross overs to try and recoup the money.

I just had an epiphany.....GM should sell the Insignia as an Entry level Buick here in the US. I mean it is perfect all it needs are the badges and it will fit right in with the 2010 Lacrosse. Also Buick can demand the price tag for the car. Finally we know that Saturn will not get it or at least not one that is not dumb down for Americans.

Heck, If I had enough money, I'd go over and buy an Insignia in Europe and bring it back to the states. That is one good looking car, and we should most definitely get it.

It was between that car and the Camaro for my new Car...
Now It's just the Camaro. Since we're not getting an Aura from this.

Who knows...Maybe Pontiac will get it.

Right now though, GM doesn't need to make too many Pricey decisions.
I'd much rather see GM Survive.

I love wagons. I have been looking at aVW Passat wagon. Stunning vehicle that would better suit my needs than any SUV or CUV. It's about time North Americans look at wagons more seriously.
