Think deeper than the surface of this technology. This is one more piece of the puzzle in place for autopilot in cars.

We already have adaptive cruise control that can maintain proper distance for a given speed, and bring cars to a stop if need be. Add built in GPS to the equation (mapping would have to be updated MUCH more frequently than it is now), and the big pieces are now in place to be able to give the car a destination, and sit back to let it work.

With as much as I love driving, there are times when I'd love to have such a system in place.
