A Couple of Omega Coupes?

Should Buick
Bring Back Riviera?

So we all love Buick's Avenir. People asked me to do a Coupe so here is my take.

People may not realize but the Avenir does not have a traditional Buick sweepspear - it has a coke-bottle-hip and as a Coupe with that hip looks a little Camaro wanna-be with that hip, and also a little old-manish. So to make it look fresher I smoothed out the hip to more flowing curves. But as a tip to the mid 70's Riv's I added a dip in the window-line and a deep dip in the side sculpting - which isn't a body crease, and only shows up if you have a reflected horizon line as in these pics - so it's subtle. Some may like it, some may not - but I wanted to move the styling on and away from being a retro Riviera.

As a two-for I also did a second Omega Coupe, a CT6 Coupe below. It's just to show how Caddy can go sharp and edgy while Buick goes with fluid flowing curves...

What do you think, tell us and come back to comment on what others thought as well...

Now this would make a great companion to an Elmiraj type coupe. :)

Stunning Buick concepts.

That small rear door (side) window in the CT6 sedan bothers me however. Looks like the XTS, and that memory should be a short one.
I really like the convertible. the body lines just flow through. Also like the CT6 coupe. However I would like to see Cadillac do something dramatic with their coupes outside of ATS. if at all, and this is a small request... can you place some of the current CTS coupe signatures into the CT6- coupe....? Thank you :)

This product is a decade late. Not a worthwhile offering in this era of impending doom imposed by this Administration with 50 plus mpg CAFE standards.
I actually like the four door better.

Wow - love what you did with the Buick and the Caddy!

Unlike Cadillac where I think they need to stay AWAY from their heritage names because they are all stodgey sounding, I think some of the past Buick names can be resurrected. The Riviera is one of those names that doesn't sound old and evokes nice images. This is a perfect name for the car.

Both Buicks look stunning.

Can Buick afford 3 halo cars? Avenir, Riviera, and Roadmaster(?) ?

I wish they could do all 3 and customize each one enough to make it worth while, but that's a lot of $60,000 models for Buick to juggle.

Let's start with Avenir and test the price point and market.
If it's not quite a home run, they can adjust up/down market and roll out Riviera. The trick is to stretch Buick's image without taking it so far that nobody takes it seriously.
Both the coupe and convertible look great. As much as we all like the Avenir, i just wonder if it will even go into production and if it does how much will be changed between concept and dealership.

Therein lies the problem. Even Reuss said the Buick was not a car they intend to build. That could be spin, or it could be truth. Given the reaction the car got, it should be built yesterday, but there may be fear that the Buick will steal some of the CT6's sales. Time will tell. I personally prefer the Buick Avenir to the CT6 (as much as we've seen so far), but that's my personal preference.

Now thats a good chop.
That convertible should be built. It is gorgeous.
The convertible is so 'Buick' -- a tangible manifestation of the kind of relaxed luxury that could be the hallmark of Buick. It's kind of well-tailored unbuttoned collar shirt and sports jacket kind of car.

I like the idea of revisiting the boattail Riviera, but it makes the car look a bit bulbous and ungainly. I think the c-pillar you've created without the rear glass might look better, though perhaps too similar to the big Mercedes coupe. OTOH, maybe that's not a bad thing as the Buick would likely be a lot more accessible! And, please, GM, bring back the pillarless hardtop!
Both the Avenir and Elmiraj are powerful proof of what can be done. Only thing more powerful is the excuse making of why they should not be....
The renderings (Buicks/Cadillac) are spot-on PERFECT, MonaroSS!

And you don't work for GM becaauusse...
Looks good) But I hope they wont have the b-pillar, especially the ct6 coupe.
