So my parents decided they wanted a new Malibu. On Memorial Day they found the exact car they wanted at the Chevy Dealer that my wife and I deal with, Loren Berg.

They started by contacting Costco to try and get "Costco" pricing. Costco sent them to a dealer that was closer to their home. The dealer near their home was Kendall Chevrolet. Kendall played typical car dealer games with my parents. They promised to deliver the car the next day by 4:30 but did not call all day. Finally my Dad got ahold of the salesperson only to learn that they did not get the car from Loren.

Upset, my Mom called me and asked what I think they should do. I said let me call Loren and see what they can do for them. Dorthy, our Loren Berg Salesperson, called up my parents and asked about the original deal they had with Kendall. She then stated she would get back to them with the deal. Loren, himself - the owner, promised to do the same deal even without viewing their trade in.

Here is where it gets good. My Mom then told Dorthy that my Dad and her would come up the next day to pick up the car. In typical Loren Berg fashion Dorthy insisted that they bring the car to them. She even said they could bring it that night if they wanted. See, my parents live almost 100 miles from us. Loren Berg Chevrolet is selling them a brand new Malibu at Costco pricing and driving it over 100 miles to deliver it. My parents decided on the next day as it was getting late on Sunday. They just don't get any better than that! :)

This isn't the first time Loren, the owner, has gone over board in making sure we, the customer, are number 1 on his priority list. He has detailed my car for free, given us multiple free oil changes . . .

How come EVERY GM dealer isn't like that?

Thank you Loren Berg for representing General Motors with top notch customer service. They don't get any better than you.

Glad to hear it. Always good news when Chevy dealers treat current and future owners right.
Question: Are they driving the car the 100 miles or shipping it? Maybe it's just me, but I always liked my new cars with the least mileage already on it as possible.
Post pictures of it when you can! What trim level did they get?

You're obviously making all of this up.
No one is ever going to believe a Chevrolet dealership is *that* good.

(Congratulations. Good choice)

I thought about that as well. Though my parents have a choice. They can put on 100 miles driving it home, or the dealer can bring it them. Either way the car will have 100 miles on it when they take delivery of it. With the dealer driving it too them they get an extra 100 miles on the warranty. I wouldn't be suprised if Loren had it flatbeded, but wouldn't put money on it.

The car;
2LT
Imperial Blue exterior
Ebony UltraLux interior
Premium Audio Package (In Dash 6 CD player & 8 Speakers)
Rear Power Package (110-volt AC Adapter & Manual Backglass Shade)
Power Sunroof

In some ways they are a Chevy Dealer, no fancy showroom or service area, salespeople wearing jeans, car shows multiple times a year, and a little rough around the edges (as compared to a top notch Cadillac Dealer - Kuni or Vic Alfonso Cadillac). What they lack in perfection is made up with Loren himself and how he will go overboard for this customers.

Wow, sounds great. Pretty colors as well.
Hope it serves them well!

Kewlness and congratulations to your folks on their new wheels.

I'm not sure I'll ever understand why folks don't want to obey The Golden Rule.

It keeps customers coming back a lot more reliably than trying to screw them out of fifty bucks.

Salespeople wearing jeans? Holy crap, are they hiring?

Important point you've made. While snazzy-looking facilities are needed to draw customers in, it's top-notch service like this that keeps a dealership's reputation in good standing. I'll take shabby showrooms but impeccable service over the opposite any day. Of course both would nice!...

:D

Glad to see your folks choose a Malibu.

If GM would bring the Chinese Park Avenue here, I could regale you all with the story of my Dad's impeccable service from Mossy Buick here in New Orleans (the best BPG dealer in America; well.... tied with GMCSonoma's dealership!).

:D

It's burning my Dad's azz up big time that he can't buy that Park Ave. The chance of a new Volvo S80 sitting in their drive increases daily.

Hope the folks enjoy their new Malibu!
