http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/28/nissan-gt-r-spec-v-specs-revealed-by-randt/

Road & Track just spilled the beans on the new Nissan GT-R Spec V, so we can now share their data with all of you. Thanks guys. While the "regular" GT-R is busy bringing down giants and collecting hardware in the process, the new GT-R Spec V promises to improve on the formula, and probably cure cancer or bring about world peace along the way. Here are the numbers: 2 seats only, 520 hp @ 6500 rpm, 440 lb.-ft. of torque all the way from 3200–5200 rpm, 3615 lbs., 'Ring laps quicker than 7:30, $130,000 MSRP, early 2009.

So the car will lose its back seat and enough other stuff to shed 200 pounds, will get an extra 40 advertised horses, cost almost twice as much as the current model and lap the Nordschleife faster than a Porsche 997 GT2. We had that number as low as 7:25 recently, which is just insane. We're guessing there will be enough people that will wait for this model to hit U.S. shores when it debuts in early 2009, but even more who will think they can duplicate the recipe for far fewer dollars and a regular old GT-R.

Another pointless vehicle that will disappear into a cargo container somewhere to be sold 30 years from now at auction.

I'm pretty sure it beats the ZR-1, as the current GTR comes very very close, and ran during wet weather.
The one I saw was very dry and ran a little more than 3 seconds behind. The ZR1 had huge headwinds that didn't allow it to get up to speed either. Where do you come up with this?

I had the opportunity to look at, they wouldn't let me inside, two GTR's at the Nissan dealership over the weekend and I have to say they look much better in person. This is a car that doesn't photograph well at all. I still hate the dash design though, looks like it was designed in the 80's.

That's a bad ass car but it sure comes with a heavy price premium for what you get over the regular GT-R.

Spec-V has been timed as low as 7:25 recently.

the zr1 is cheaper, and still looks better. what's a second between friends?

awd does double straight line acceleration...which the zr1 needs badly. it also compensates for the front tires dragging (they're basically along for the ride). you can also power the front tires, instead of braking the rear tires, to adjust oversteer/understeer. the gtr is a naturally good handling car that also has the benefit of awd.

if I really needed AWD (the one and only advantege GT-R has over ZR-1), I would go for Audi R8 I once drove. It was a blast to drive it in corners on track.
