not if the 5.3 is made for car use, and not truck. Just like the 6.0 truck motor is diffrent then the 6.0 vette motor, they get different rpo engine codes. The 5.3 going in thoes cars would get a whole new design to be able to be mounted transversly. He also talked about the 5.3 going into teh GP. Engine code number is LS4. He said that the engine package was for GP, Monte and Impalla. He said it was for mid year of 2005.
I doubt that it would be called the ls4.....that would mess up GM's engine naming scheme. my guess would probably be the same as a current 5.3 or something very close to that.
The RPO doesn't really make a difference to most of us, but it'd be neat if they continue on the 'LSx' engine codes. Makes my '79 blazer with a 'LS9' seem special! Haha, that lazy smogger 350....
