GM is developing a V10, but I haven't heard that it will be going in the Vette. The 427 is in development for the Vette. GM is dropping production of the big block (496) and replacing it with a 7.5L V10, based off the 6.0L V8 small block.

GM did research a v10 GenIII when the engines first came out and decided against it because of packaging and also fuel economy. I think now DOD has changed that. By shutting off two or four of the cylinders you can make it get the same gas mileage as an 8 or a 6. The Escalade will probably be the first to receive the XV8 followed by the HD silverado and also Sierra. I would also suspect the H2 will be looked at to launch the 10s.

Actually, the new V10 will NOT have DOD as an option.
