New Holden Cruze Ad - False Advertising or a Cool New Feature ?

4832 Views 17 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  mikmak
Watch the video below - it is Holden's latest in the cute kid advertising line (the kid needs a haircut though - that's almost child abuse).

In the ad the kid mentions that his uncle's doesn't even need to be in his new Cruze to start it, yet they then cut away to him changing gears with a 6 speed manual stick.

When I bought my manual SV6, remote start was one of the functions I could not have due to the fact that the car may not be in neutral. Have Holden overcome this issue in the Cruze, or did the marketing team just not know ***** from snow ?

Cute commercial. I'm in the wrong country to comment on the availability of a stick with remote start.

But as far as the hair, I'm not sure if it's a boy or a girl. If that's a boy then he does need a haircut.
Well manual ATS' don't get remote start, so I'd be surprised if the Cruze did.
i think its a mistake lol,
Website doesn't even give standard/optional feature listings so who knows. Remote start can be had on manual transmission some places but in order to work the vehicle must first have been left in neutral and park brake set is my understanding of the deal.
Remote start is on the new Auto Cruze. I just watched the commercial a couple times and worked out that the Uncles Cruze is the second Red Cruze as they pull up.

As the young boy says " One day uncle Tom will let me in it" at around the 21 second mark and he was talking about his uncles cool Red Cruze with Auto start

Yes but the kid is in a Captiva so my assumption is that the pics of the Cruze are all Uncle Tom's. The Captiva is the one with ice cream smeared on the windows. Little turd would not be eating anything in my car ....

I looked at the colour of the uncles pants when he changed gear as I didn't pay attention to that before and then when he got out of the car.

I think you are spot on with the false or unintentional mistake in the ad. Uncle Tom's Cruze is definitely a manual 100%

The first couple of times I didn't realise the kid was in a Cappy.

Just goes to show how much the little ****s parents think of their Cappy :p:

in Canada GM will NOT activate remote start on a stick car
and VIPER aftermarket starters you start the car using the remote while it is running then shut it off using the key (engine keeps running) get out lock door then use the remote starter to shut off the engine

one of my friends kids totally trashed a Venture van like this "brat" both to "busy" to properly taker care of the kid and depend on daycare/nanny services
Yes I picked this up when I watched it too. I think the new nose looks pretty favourable in the footage though.
In America, there would be a little disclaimer at the bottom that says *optional equipment
So would we normally, in fact we also get *Overseas model shown (No sh1t - the steering wheel is on the wrong side !!) on most ads.

The Holden website puts on the asterisk to say '*Available on CDX and Sri-V models' but not to say auto only.

It looks better in motion and my wife actually likes it

So yeah whatever LOL
Just for the record, no you can't get remote start on the manual Cruze.
