That's not it. It's a good chop. Your real answer lies in the Mitsubishi Sport Truck concept. Slap a durango face on a pic of that concept and it's a dead ringer for the upcoming Dakota, which also gets a name change, BTW.

Yeah, I know what you mean. The rear looks wierd. But, when looking at a pic of the front, you can notice the hood "steps down" like the outgoing Dakota. It's just the way the fenders bulge that tells you there's relation to the 'Kota.
