NEW 2006 CHEVY TAHOE

2006 Chevrolet Tahoe
The Tahoe for 2006 will be instantly apparent as a GM vehicle, but changed in many ways from the current model. Start with the grille: Its bold, in-your-face design dominates the front end. Larger headlight units above a large bumper contribute to the stronger appearance. The bumper dips in the center to make way for the new grille. Also new are the hood and fenders with large flares for the wheel openings. At the rear, the ventilated rear pillar is covered with longer side glass. Minor changes in the mirrors and rub strip are seen in the side view. Expect the interior to be freshened, as well.

I know Ming is been waiting for this. I think it's a sign for things to come, I hope the "refreshed" interior is more like an overhaul. If Tahoe is being re-done I would guess the Suburban, Escalade, ESV, EXT and YUKON will follow suit.

Does anyone know of any more 2006 Tahoe pictures other than Motor Trend and Popular Mechanics? Has anyone heard of a new suburban yet or seen pictures?

The only pictures that have appeared are spy shots and CGIs from Popular Mechanics. There is a CGI in MotorTrend but its the same one (and its cited to be from) Popular Mechanics. There are no spy shots, or pictures of the Suburban, but expect them to be exactly the same as the Tahoe, but longer. There were foucs group pictures which appeared to be clay models of the Avalanche (2006), and it had a similar front clip, but the only vies were side view, and rear 3/4 view. However those pictures have been embargoed by GM so we can't post them.
This is GREAT news, alvbazan! :D

As far as the interior goes, I don't know if many of you are familiar with the 2003 Chevrolet Express refresh (I can't find any good photos on the web right now of both the old and new) - but that would be a sufficient change - and it didn't require a total interior redesign (only the dash and a few other bits changed).

Here's the new Express dash - the old one was round and bulbous:

ummm... yeah... you should really use your "sarcastic" font when you're joking.

(good lord i hope he was joking!)
It isn't much to look at, but neither was the 1996 design. ;)

My point was that you can implement a new design in the Tahoe without changing all that much underneath.

If you compare these photos with the pre-2003 models, you'll notice the big difference is the "sharp edge" look everywhere, as opposed to rounded "Taurusy" styling. But you can also see how the seats are the same, and it looks like all they did was replace the dash with a newer looking fascia, and put in new door panels in the front. From the front back you could be sitting in a 1996 model.

So its similar in a way to what they are doing with the CSVs - that also if you look closely have the A/C vents in the same place, which makes me think they also just replaced the "dash fascia" and not the underpinnings of it.

I've heard some here and on other forums say that interior "redesigns" cost a whopping amount of money, but if all you are doing is replacing the dash but leaving the A/C vents, etc. in the same place --- I don't see how hard it can be. It's like putting on a different Halloween mask -- the face underneath is the same.

i thought that pic was edited... almost looks like the centre stack is mirrored! i personally don't see that interior as an improvement... a little too utilitarian, even for trucks/SUV's. too much emply black panel... it kinda says "look at all the space for switches to gear we didn't include!"

That was my initial impression, since I have driven pre-2003 Expresses with the old design. But when you look at the entire package, it looks much sharper, and leaves a lot of room for customizers to upfit the vans like they do with those conversion vans -- the older vans didn't have as much space for that kind of thing. I also like the "blocky" squared off grip bar on the passenger side more than the rounded one ---- but the MAJOR improvement was that the old dash was (or seemed to me to be) thinner, more frajile, and prone to make an unpleasant creaking noise when pressed. Same with the old door panels.

The new one seems more solid and...industrial. Good for GMC's (Savana) "sub zero fridge" brand image, and good for the new "sharp creases" look in most of the new Chevys.

One more reason I know they didn't jump through hoops to do the refresh on the 2003 Express interior: GM was talking about making standard certain door handles - like using the Suburban door handles on all of its trucks, and sticking to one design wherever possible. Since the Express handles are the same as 1996, this means they changed nothing under the skin --- otherwise they would have moved to the new common handle design.

Does anybody know if the Chevy Suburban will be redesigned???
Need some pics <_< But I suppose it will look great
If you need the image I have scanned it onto my computer, so If you want it PM me, since the upload system isn't really working with this picture.

And to answer one of your questions, yes the Suburban is going to be redesigned. How couldn't it be, its just a streched Tahoe...

Here are pics of the tahoe and the avalanche
okay, the avalanche looks fantastic in those pics! so much smoother and cohesive than the current one. hope that's close to what they put out!
Interesting design. I don't call it 'in your face' such as the recent Dodge stylings. I call it 'calm and interesting'. My main thing is the 'interior'. If we could see a possible spy shot, I could kind of figure out what it would look like, just like I discovered months ago what the next-gen RL is going to look like: the current TSX & TL designs.
no pics. But I was more impressed with the 2006 Buick pictured. Based off the CTS, it looks pretty cool.

Hmmm....I liked the chrome bar that Chevy was making a part of all of its lineup for a while there.

First the Uplander, now this. It looks better than the overstayed welcome of the current design, but I still would've liked the chrome bar and bowtie look.
wow, the Avalanche looks GREAT!
The sketch of the GTO looks cool
i really want to see that buick regal in production as a rwd car. then the return of the grand national. and a turbo 3.8 instead of a supercharged version

Alan
Please post the picture on this site dying to see them at work the are site is block thank you :mf_boff:
