My Trip To The National Corvette Museum

1113 Views 5 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  JimmyDiablo
So I'm stuck in a galaxy far far away for a bit, mostly against my will, but that's for another time. This weekend is my birthday, and since the museum is only an hour away, I decided to check it out.

I had little battery left on my phone, so I was just snapping quick photos, no complaining of quality etc, wanted to make sure I got it all, not likely to ever make this trip again. So without further adu, for your viewing pleasure. :drive:

^^^actually made up of thousands of tiny pictures of corvettes

They had a bunch of C7's on display in the lobby, not sure if all of them were awaiting their new owners, but the one they drove in while we were there was definitely being picked up that day.

Thanks for posting all the photos JimmyDiablo, & they're fine, great job. Anybody who finds themselves in that galaxy should go there, see the museum, the track, & do the plant tour. Did you get to the track, or do the plant tour JimmyDiablo? Happy New Year too.

All those C7s are there for owners to pick up. It's a ridiculous awesome thing GM does.

I need to get back down there to see the new wing. It's a blast there.
Great pictures! Really enjoyed them. I know I am in the minority but the C4 is still my favorite style wise, I have 2 models of the C4 at my parents house in RI one is a dark red 40th anniversary and the other is just a regular black C4.

Apparently, Zora Arkus-Duntov was a midget.

Who knew?

They had a small display in the museum about the track, and it seems to be membership only, but I can't be certain, but for that reason we didn't go. And we unfortunately didn't have time to tour the factory. But with my brother an hour away, and my parents retiring to the same area as him, I'm sure I will be down again at some point in the future and will have it on my to do list.

His ashes are also enshrined there.

Also, FYI, they are selling dirt from the sinkhole, yes, I bought some. $10 for a small jar. Don't ask me why, I just had to have it. And according to the cashier, someone had their ashes tossed into the sinkhole so there's a possibility that some of the jars of dirt may or may not contain some. He also said that some of the earlier jars had bits of fiberglass fibers, glass bits, and so on from the corvette debris. And one even had a penny in it. Mine seems to just have run of the mill Kentucky clay/dirt. Yes I opened the jar and smelled it. It smells like wet dirt.
