According to the guys at the HorsepowerKings, General Motors Company [NYSE:GM] has just set a Nürburgring lap time of 6:59.13 using its 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06! Yes, we’re talking less than seven minutes here. The car was said to be fitted with the available Z07 performance package and eight-speed automatic transmission.

Time will tell.I don't think there will ever be an official GM lap time. For one, the car does not have the top-end speed of the ZR1 nor Viper ACR for that matter. (Say nothing of the Nissan GTR, which holds the production lap time). The car's top speed is 184 mph.
Beyond this, the car falls flat on its face when engaging 5th gear at 130+ mph. Oil temps in warmer weather would be a real concern, too. Guys running the car in cooler weather on much slower tracks indicate excessive temps, let alone sustained speeds of 130+ mph at the Ring.

Well, the Nurburgring is a special case, which requires a good top-end on the long straights. The new Z will have a lot of time to make up as it falls behind the ZR1 at above 130, and very much behind at above 150. If I'm not mistaken, the ZR1 reached speeds of around 185 mph on the back straight. The 918 is probably pushing closer to 200.Disagree. Lap times are about sustained speed more than top speed.
Which manufacturers?I'm impressed gm answered the question about lap time so quickly...with stating they got rained out on portions of the track and decided not to put together timed segments of the track to announce a lap time ...which other manufacturers have been rumored to do..
