Disguised 'secret' car in crash
June 29, 2004
A SERIOUS crash involving a Mitsubishi prototype driven by an amateur racing car driver is being investigated by police.
Major crash officers, who mainly investigate road fatalities, are preparing a report on the accident, involving the left-hand drive prototype and a Mitsubishi Lancer driven by 56-year-old Anne Fuller.
Inquiries by police indicated the maroon vehicle - camouflaged in black plastic to disguise its appearance - crossed on to the wrong side of Adelaide's Sturt Rd at Clovelly Park last Tuesday and hit Mrs Fuller's car. After spending three days in a high-dependency ward at Flinders Medical Centre, Ms Fuller is recovering from multiple fractures, including an ankle, knee, collar bone, rib and finger.
A Mitsubishi company employee driving the car between the company's Lonsdale and Tonsley Park plants has blamed a coughing fit for the loss of control.
