Most of my memories are for jingles rather than specific visuals...

"...best of all -- it's a Cadillac..." (Cadillac Cimarron jingle)

"...how does it feel in a Mustang II? -- Mustang II -- Boredom Zero..."

"...we have one built - for you -- Oldsmobile..."

"...we - build excite - ment - Pontiac!..."

"...the new Dodge Omni does -- it -- all..."

"...what will you do with all the money you save..." (Toyota)

Among the visuals I do remember...

* Ricardo Monteblan touting Chyrsler Cordoba's "Rich Corinthian leather"

* Ford Granada commercial comparing the car to a Cadillac Seville, trying to show how similar they looked

...I'm sure I'll remember others as folks here bring them up. B)

Whoa, check it out.

I was Googling around looking for any hint of commercials or jingles I remember, and I ran into this link to a Mustang II commercial with the "boredom zero" jingle I mentioned before.

Anyone else have any links to old car commercials that are available online?

"See the USA in your Chevrolet" Dinah Shore doing the vocal. She could sing and had the looks.
While I'm not quite enough advanced in years to have seen the Dinah Shore commercials, I have a few of them on a vintage car commercial video tape I have.

One commercial from 1959 that I thought particularly clever--no Dinah Shore in this one, but tell me if you happen to have seen it and remember it--involves a mother, father, and son walking toward their "older" car (looks like a late-40's model, but you never see enough of it to identify it), after having done some grocery shopping.

The son is distracted when he looks into a showroom window and notices another family inside--a mother, father, and daughter--being shown a beautiful new 1959 Chevrolet station wagon by a salesman. He sticks his tongue out at the little girl and she makes a face back at him.

The mother and father, still back at the old car putting a grocery bag in, seem annoyed and walk over to see what their son is staring at.

The mother and father see the beautiful new 1959 Chevrolet station wagon and sigh, then the mother looks back at her old car just in time to see the door unlatch and open, causing all their groceries to spill out. She then looks back at the other family considering the new car and watches as the salesman shuts one of the new car's doors. The door shuts soundly, and that's the final straw for her.

In the next scene, the family of spectators are now inside the showroom, themselves talking to a salesman about a beautiful new 1959 Chevrolet station wagon. As the narrator begins speaking, we see the family driving away from the dealership in their beautiful new 1959 Chevrolet station wagon. "The 1959 Chevrolets", the narrator says, "Fun to drive. Fun to buy."

...it might be one of those "you have to see it" things, but I thought it was clever.
