Hmmmm... I like the wood. I like the fact that it's panel matched. I despise the fact that the "silver strip" is will drawn on the right wood panel. You'd think they could at least glue a metal strip in there??

The IP is a disappointment without Bvlgari, and the cartoony font remains on the shifter.
I love the CTS and the DTS interior looks better than I thought it did
Wow, this just shows me that Cadillac still has a long way to go as far as interiors. Pretty disappointing.
Escalade/ESV/EXT
Start of Production: June 23, 2008

Changes:

  • Flex-Fuel capability

Those are actually pretty nice upgrades for the Escalade. The power tilt certainly addresses a major negative from its' release. Hope the 2-mode is available in decent quantities this year.
I wish they would've left the XLR's exterior preparing to die. And outright killed a few things.
I really like the Escalade's platinum interior. The STS is looking pretty pathetic inside and out IMO.
Actually I really like the STS. Not sure why, maybe it's just the colour. Doe sthe interior come in a different colour?

It does. The other two colors are black (called Ebony) and white (called Platinum).

But you should check out the Caddy SLS sold in China. Now THAT...you will like even more.

As for the lineup...I guess I really have to wait 3 years for the more desirable one.
Ok I'm confused. What does it mean AWD model for Escalade? Before Escalades were AWD standard, are they now making it an option? Now its either AWD or the 2WD Hybrid?

Also, being able to get downloadable navigation through Onstar. Does that mean you no longer have to buy the new DVD when it comes out every year? And, people that have 2008 Escalade, is there any way to get an update to the Onstar to take advantage of this, or is an entirely different computer vs. just a firmware update?

I also remember reading that the Escalade was going to get auto up on at least the drivers window. Is that something you could take into the dealership to get programmed for an 08 Escalade?

Body-colored OnStar/XM antenna
FINALLY. This needs to happen to all of the antennas. Body color them..and give them some style.

Kind of underwhelmed. Those XLR wheels look HIDEOUS! Really when I read the Vision of Cadillac thread and I see what the ACTUAL Cadillac lineup consists of, its really. ... ... Pathetic. CTS is good, DTS is underwhelming, Escalade is good but could be better, STS is OK on exterior (minus side air vent) horrid on interior, XLR is OK minus wheels and side air vent (interior is horrid for the money), SRX is good but needed a dramatic restyling exteriorly to 'look' like an SUV but still BE what is is...a true X5 competitor.

JMO-

Cheers and hopes to creating a 3series sized and priced RWD Cadillac in the near future, a compact CUV from Cadillac, RWD DTS replacement with styling and luxury amedities on par with an S-Klasse, and an STS that mimics a CLS/6-series/ and a STS-V that mimics a M6 on top of a CTS MCE that substantially upgrades the vehicle mechanically, interior, and amedity wise to be on par with a 550i/E500 (as well as price wise).

*Dreams* of a Cien supercar clearly superior, mid engine and that EMBARASSES a ZR1 making it the Flagship car of the Flagship brand of GM.

I don't think that is possible. The 2009 Cadillac's have all-new OnStar Gen 8 hardware.

Hi nasp,

I have just arrived back home in Connecticut and I am still buzzing regarding my experience at the Cadillac XLR Rendezvous III. And how would I describe this event, in one word, spectacular!

First, thank you for the photos. However, I must say after attending Cadillac’s XLR Rendezvous III, photos simply cannot express the experience of Cadillac’s XLR design and engineering, photos simply are one dimensional for me and cannot convey the true beauty of the XLR.

I had the pleasure to meet fellow Cadillac XLR owners and Cadillac/car enthusiasts. The Cadillac XLR Forum and Cadillac created an exclusive, fun, informative event for Cadillac XLR owners and Cadillac enthusiasts. The 2008 XLR Rendezvous III was located in Bowling Green, KY. Cadillac kicked off this gathering appropriately with a reception at the Olde Stone Country Club beginning with Cadillac marketing welcome remarks and the introduction of Cadillac’s General Manager Jim Taylor. Jim began with thanking the XLR owners for selecting Cadillac’s XLR. Then he provided an overview of the transformation of Cadillac and its future direction. The lead engineer assign to the XLR from its inception provided and overview of the styling, design and engineering updates for 2009. I will discuss in detail in another note regarding the XLR Technical Sessions conducted the following day, which included the XLR lead exterior/interior designers, Quality Build Manager and engineering team.

Then Jim announces what everyone came to see, the world premiere of Cadillac’s 2009 XLR. The 2009 XLR Platinum was met with cheers and clapping and we all were invited to review the new XLR in person. I waited to see the car last, which afforded me the time to talk with Jim and the Cadillac product and engineering directors over ****tails.

Having the experience of my comparative evaluations of the world’s best sports cars, luxury performance roadsters and midsize premium performance sedans, prepared me very well for this world class Cadillac XLR happening. And you all should know, I selected a summary of notes from our GMI Cadillac discussions as topics along with my specific questions and comments as part of my conversation with Jim Taylor and lead GM/Cadillac design, engineering, technicians, builders and marketing teams. They were all present and what an absolutely stellar team a people. I will take the time later in detail and share some of my various conversations over the three day event

After this insightful event, Cadillac is simply first-rate in my view, my expectations and specifically of Cadillac’s GM, Jim Taylor, after an extensive and enjoyable open discussion I came to a single formidable conclusion; I believe the Cadillac team understands the performance luxury and traditional luxury market. And what was so personal and impressive for me, was the pure passion, knowledge and professionalism displayed in regard to their designs for Cadillac. This was made evident at this event in very powerful terms, in product design, engineering and advance technologies. In fact, after this experience, our GMI discussions feel superficial and elementary. With every new product development Cadillac not only is competitive on the world luxury stage today, but they have created and designed some of the most unique designed luxury products available.

While I see signs of hope for Cadillac in these pics, it makes me sad that long after the unveiling of the stunning Sixteen and Cien concepts, nothing remotely like them can be had in show rooms.
JLMartin99: Greetings! I am glad you found your XLR gathering to be exhilarating! It re-kindles my enthusiasm for the Cadillac brand, after these mostly insignificant model year enhancements depicted here. Of course, the XLR is receiving its first "makeover," albeit a rather minor one. For me, I can't wait to see the CTC in-person. Thank you for sharing your observations from your XLR gathering--I look forward to reading more about it!
I really hate that "corporate" steering wheel the DTS has (and by extension the Escalade/ESV/EXT have as well). I expect more from Cadillac. Surely, it can't be that difficult to replace, it would do wonders for those interiors and, in the case of the Escalade set them apart from the Chevy/GMC trucks.
I wish they would delete the base packages from all models and make the Luxury I package the base and add some more features to each at the top end.

Yup.
I mentioned the steering wheel nonsense when the Gen3 Escalade launched.
The corporate steering wheel should stay away from Cadillac.

GM needs to figure out how to isolate Cadillac's parts bins from the rest of GM. A switch, gear, level, or wheel here and there will give Cadillacs a sense of being more unique than the rest of GM.

But GM doesn't give Cadillac all the weapons it needs to compete.
SO what can you do?
Just continue to expect Cadillac to be an OK Tier 2 or Tier 3 luxury brand... and you'll never be disappointed.
Hi jlmartin.

Did you maybe ask something about replacement for DTS/STS and new small caddy?
