Could be a repost but I didn't see it anywhere.

http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2008/10/kbb-mccains-big.html

"McCain's appeal among owners of domestics and large trucks/SUVs is right in line with where we see a majority of those vehicles selling — in the traditionally Republican 'red' states," said Rick Wainschel, senior vice president of marketing and analytics for Kelley Blue Book and kbb.com. "With import and hybrid owners typically favoring Obama, this also aligns with strong sales of these types of vehicles in predominately Democratic 'blue' states."

According to KBB; 60% of Chevy, 58% of Dodge, and 57% of Ford owners prefer McCain. Obama dominates with 70% of Mini, 61% of Subaru, and 59% of Saab owners.

Duh.

A bunch of full sized truck owners happen to run their own business...be it agricultural, construction, engineering, or some type of industrial work.

Small business owners are more or less devoted to the Republican party with a few exceptions.

Then you have the "republican trucks" as I call them- loaded up Duramax or Powerstroke powered crew cabs with MSRPs up to $60,000. These people are obviously white collar and are a little closer to the American dream that many of us.

Disclaimer: I drive a full sized truck, and started out supporting McCain....but now I am leaning more and more towards Obama every day. My father runs his own business and is a die hard right wing nut (not the McCain type- more of the Bush type with some Goldwater tendencies)

According to the article the trend goes beyond truck owners, people who drive domestics favor McCain over Obama and people who drive imports favor Obama over McCain.

I've noticed that around here as well. McCain/Palin bumper stickers on domestics, Obama/Biden stickers on imports.

I see a lot more Obama stickers on domestics near me...

I see plenty of McCain stickers on Lexii....

IMO...McCain doesn't like favoring domestics over imports...which I feel is bad news for anyone in the 50 states who makes their living in the manufacturing sector and their related industries...

I think that is just because McCain wants a dynamic and "strong" domestic industry... protectionism just breeds bad product, like Soviet Union and the Lada and Moskvitch :lmao:

heh I'm in the same boat but on the opposite end. I see tons of Subarus with Obama and democratic-stickers but I don't associate myself with that party (nor do I associate myself with the republican party)

I have two of them (fullsize pickups) and have always voted for the rightmost political option available but I would never vote for a candidate that has a nut for VP and happens to be of fragile health.

Not that I can vote in a US election, of course...

This clearly indicates that normal, middle of the road American working people support McCain / reject Obama (except for the relatively few show-offs in empty trucks). Small business owners are certainly working people. It is no surprise that given the choice we have, they would choose McCain, as they care about our country and the people in it. The image of republicans as greedly amoral wall street types is nothing but a silly stereotype .

I recall something from around the '04 election stating which cars tend to be aligned with which parties, and the only domestic that had a Democratic leaning was Pontiac. The explanation for this: 2/3 of Pontiac drivers are college girls with Grand Ams and Sunfires, and we all know they trend Obama.

Obama has the Subarus in my house - my parents both drive them and we are all Barack supporters.

So only small business owners that drive large pickups are normal, middle of the road working people?

I don't know how these Americans can handle it. 300 M people and all they can pick up for President are tweedle-dum and the "black" tweedle-dumb (he's not
even black and half the country thinks he is Muslim ?!!)

talk about having a tough choice between two losers, at least Mc Cain has a crazy woman (C-SPAN can be like Jerry Springer) for VP while Barack has a third loser as VP... they all seem to be turkies and the election can go either way IMO. Why can't it be like Canada where we have Our Saviour the Right Honorable Mr. Harper and then the dimbulbs like Dion and "nice guy finishes last" Layton, I'll leave the former Marxist-Leninist with the cheese hat for another day LOL!:lmao:

HEY Lio still have your busted-up door? I have a nice door ;)

I drive a full-sized truck. But that's because of my personality, not my party affiliation.

I learned pretty early on that having a pickup is really nice when you have to haul really heavy stuff, dirty/oily stuff, or dead animals.
Since I do all three multiple times per year, I drive a truck.

Maybe I should quit working so much and go protest something.

I beg to differ. The Lada is an acceptable alternative to walking, especially when it's cold.

Of course you can! Admittedly it would help if you were a dead illegal immigrant homeless person named Donald Duck who happens to be a felon, but don't give up so easily. Don't you have Acorn trees up there? BTW, what's your favorite brand of cigarette, just out of curiosity.
