This goes to show that the people saying domestics have just as good or better quality were not just blowing hot air.

Average problems per vehicle in 90 days:

Toyota = 1.04
Honda = 1.10
Ford = 1.12
Chevrolet = 1.13

It looks like GM has finally committed to competing in the mid size car arena - in a genuine way. After driving a new Malibu - compared to the G6 I was stuck with as a rental a week prior - I'm amazed they are on the same platform.

Great design, class leading ride/handling, and now - the first indications of excellent quality.

It seems like with every new GM vehicle the gap is closed more and more.

The G6 helped close the gap, the Aura closed it most of the way and now the Malibu has slammed the door shut.

Now there is NO reason one should consider any other midsize family sedan but the Malibu. It has proven GM can and does build the BEST midsize car out there.

Can anyone give a logical reason why someone should buy an accord or camry over the Malibu?

Let's go down the list;
Resale value - Per KBB, Malibu = Camry
Awards - Malibu has more than the camry got last year or the accord has gotten this year
Quality - This JD Power report says it all
The Looks and dynamics of the car- Unless you are hiding under a rock, no other midsize standard family car has gotten this much praise in recent years for its looks or the overall way it performs.

For all those out there that said they would love to buy American if GM, Ford or Chrysler would build a quality product worth buying, now is the time to put your money where your mouth is.

I've been keeping my eyes on the Malibu ever since it came out. I don't like to buy the first year of a major redesign so a company can work out the kinks. Unfounded or not, it gives me peace of mind. I'm a little disappointed in the size of the rear seat. Granted, if it were my car, I wouldn't be sitting back there. But I don't want to worry about anyone else that has to sit back there. I also question GM's technology with hybrids. If Ford can make a small SUV get 34 mpg in the city, why can't GM make a sedan that beats it? Beyond those two gripes, it seems to be a great vehicle.

I do have one other question I can't seem to get answered at the dealership. Does anyone know if it can be towed with all four wheels down? My next vehicle must be able to do that.

Thanks,

Mo

Can someone post the sales of the Malibu compared to the other mid-sizers? I am interested to see if the Malibu is stomping others in the segment besides Camry or Accord.
Or is GM still ramping up the factory output?
