The Camaro looks like an American car, nothing like any cars from Asia or Europe, and should sell in radically higher numbers, so parts should be readily available and reasonably priced.

GM either needs to find the money to restyle the G8, or drop it immediately.

The windshield will cost just as much as any other car. This is not the only market the car exists in. There will be no shortage of parts. In fact, it will share a lot of parts with the new Camaro.

Your insurance does not offer a glass deductible at a lower price than the replacement cost?

Odd comment about why your opinion is a good idea for GM to restyle the G8. The cost to restyle the G8 would be greater for GM than an owner being concerned about parts years from now.

Well...Ill buy a G8 because its the best car GM currently makes.
Not because it might cost me more then 300 bucks for a windshiled in the event I break it.
Camaro will be just as expensive, if not more so.

Well, I've seen posts on a G8 forum about a guy who's been waiting over 3 months for a replacement windshield from Australia for his G8. It's not just about cost, it's about parts availability in general.

The car has only been out for 6 months, and its produced in a foreign country. If in a year you still can't get a windshield, then I'll worry.

I was dropping off my car at a dealer today for some service. They had a Strkyer Blue G8. That is one great looking car.

6.0 litre engine, $33,000. A great buy.

It kind of looks like they took a BMW 5 Series and really improved the styling.

You can have a great car that is expensive and has low sales, but is it a bad buy? Sales volume does not determine if a car is a good buy.
Bad cars with bad sales are a bad buy. A Yugo at almost any price was a bad buy.
But, the G8 is a good car, with low sales, but that does not make it a bad buy. The styling is generic Pontiac, but the interior, especially the gauges, aren't very good. It has good V8 power and a decent chasis. At around $30K it is a lot of car for the money, and may well be a GOOD buy.
It is not uncommon to have to wait for parts for cars manufactured outside the country.

I drove a red G8 GT the other day and loved it! Great V8 power, a lot of looks (especially from import people) and great quality.

If I had the money at the moment that would be on my list regardless of phase out or the like. My wife and I liked the car and thats all that matters to me (since she normally doesn't like typical Pontiacs due to owning a lemon and dislikes of the interiors).

It's a shame really, this is a great car and great platform that should have really taken off. My local dealership has 1 red v8 (rebates bring it to $30,185) and one grey v6 (rebates brought it to $25,342), thats it. So there isn't much to choose from which could turn people off. If people would purchase it as they should since it is a great car then getting parts would be a non-issue.

Im willing to bet a G8 windsheild is less the 350 bucks NOW, THAT is pricy for an Explorer window, there are million of them on the road, I havenever paid onver 250 bucks for a windshield...

Just got one for my 1990 YJ last week, it was all of 58 bucks.
