"Utterly" eight times and "utter" three times, for a grand total of eleven times, in such a short paragraph, yeah, that's exactly the style of writing the guys at C&D are known for.
This is so utterly, superbly true. The utter aplomb of their eight-word lexicon is impeccable in its flawless ability to seamlessly integrate its utter brevity into a superbly limited automotive review.
eight utter words = an automotive review that 95% of the superbly limited readership somehow impeccably and seamlessly translates to an utterly long, drawn-out car review.
Utterly superb.

Have some of you shtik-dreks ever driven an Acura TSX? It's a very well-sorted car that would definitely be on my short-list if I were looking for a compact sports sedan. It handles sharply, looks sharp, and has a sharp interior. Much more than I can say for any of GM's soggy offerings (Saab 9-3 aside; and even it has issues...).

Let the bottom-feeders shlep around in heaps like the Pontiac G6, and leave the real cars to those who can appreciate a good car.

And for those unaware, I really hate Hondas. Somethin' fierce. But I loved the Acuras TL and TSX. Unlike many of our GMI brethren, whose testicles don't seem to have yet fully descended, some of us have the maturity and intelligence to put aside stupid notions such as bias, and appreciate a good car for being a good car.
The TSX is a turd,t-rex...

Isn't hating Hondas a bias, considering they are well regarded vehicles?
He doesn't like Honda's because the most advanced powertrain in Honda's lineup is an old SOHC V6 and a 5-speed automatic transmission that has been in use now since 1996.
Meanwhile, Nissan has a CVT tranny with manual shift modes, GM has a DI 3.6 DOHC with variable cam phasing on the intake and exhaust and a turbo I4 that's perhaps the best in the industry.
Heck. Even Hyundai and Kia have more advanced powertrains than Honda.

I find it so odd that the people crying the loudest about "bias" are THE most biased themselves.
My singular function on this forum is to expose automotive bias at the journalistic level as I see it, t-rex. I'm not going to come here and expose an individual's bias towards a car manufacturer; I'm going to come here and expose the car magazine's bias.
Car and Driver is currently on my hit-list. Tomorrow, it may be Consumer Reports.

Many of us use bias as a synonym for preference. A bias is sort of a collective, somewhat consistent set of preferences.

C&D seems to like whatever Honda makes, most of the time. There are always exceptions. This is a bias. Biases can be very useful. If you agree with CR's biases towards what makes a great car, their shopping guide is very useful - problem is many don't know this and they sell their opinions as facts.

It doesn't have to be a negative connotation.
It's about time.

Unfourtunately for the automotive community readership, most people are utterly and superbly taken in by an impeccably limited set of an utter aplomb of an eight-word lexicon that we utterly, convincingly and telepathically read at Car and Driver magazine.

I didn't realize who had posted it. But when I was reading it, I was thinking this sounds like the stuff Proud Mary Cadillac tried at the C&D forums. Still think C&D is part of some French conspiracy to discredit American cars?

That's the actual first drive review
http://www.caranddriver.com/buying_...e-reviews_by_make+mode-collection+id-255.html
Dude. Of course there's the French conspiracy. I already shown on this forum that Saddam Hussein owned like $90M dollars worth of Hachette Filipacci Media, the media organisation that publishes Car and Driver magazine.
Unlike Car and Driver forums, my post was not banned or deleted, which means the folks here are the more educated for it.

Can you please enlighten this forum why I was banned at C&D after posting my, "Does Honda offer a standard Ouiji board with their telepathic sttering rack, or is the Ouiji Board optional equipment?" thread? I myself would like to know. I'd also like to know why I was banned a second time after starting the thread about Saddam Hussein's Beneficial Ownership in Hachette Filipacci Media.
Then I got banned yet again after I started my "Car and Driver's Eight-Word Lexicon" thread. Why did they ban me for that one? Waldorf remains silent to this day.

You say Hussein owned a stake in a media conglomerate. This is fairly normal... people with money tend to invest! What do you think... as well do you have a reference for that?

I don't think it is possible to really "enlighten" you, I mean hell I am surprised you are not banned here yet ;) Who are you, Brock Yates after a few shots of Jim Bean or something? ;)

Good stuff. "Montana Management", I like that a lot :lmao:

But this doesn't seem to reflect at all on Hachette. As soon as they found out about the owners of Montana they froze the shares and didn't pay dividend. It is even more irrelevant than condemning Mercedes-Benz since Mr. Hussein and his sons had owned a very large number of Mercedes-Benz automobiles. (I think Saddam really liked the W126... or at least he was always seen in one, at least until the W140 came out)

You clearly have no grasp of the meaning of "bias". Bias implies a hatred (in this case) of something based on nothing tangible. I tangibly hate Honda cars. They're ugly, pigs to drive, not as reliable as people think and are absurdly overrated. If they were attractive, drove well, were more interesting than a spoon, and not as troublesome, then I'd like them.

Unlike these "GM-fan" retardapes, I like cars for the car itself, not for the badge on the hood or because it was assembled in the state I live in...

In fact I find it impossible to be biased towards a product because of something a trivial as its brand name. Save that sort of retarded thinking for the rabble of morons that pollute these forums. Those of us capable of intelligent thought don't bother with such childish practice.

I find it so odd that the people crying the loudest about "bias" are THE most biased themselves. "GM fans" aren't car fans. Not by a long mile. They're "GM" fans. GM could build toilet plungers, and these idiots would be just as foaming-at-the-mouth about it, talking about how GM toilet plungers are so much better than a Toyota Camry.

In fact I'm so beyond sick of it, I'm losing interest in this place at a rapidly-waning rate.
I have a grasp of the word bias, thank you.

I just thought you were biased against Hondas because, as you said, you hate them something fierce, despite the praise they recieve in road tests and frequent high or top placings in comparison tests. You may call them overrated, but that does not automatically mean they are awful. When a person says they hate something with a passion that is well regarded by the press and owners and then claim he or she is not biased, I assumed that to be a contradiction is terms. I guess I assumed wrong.

I agree with you one thing! Car & Driver being on a (s)hit-list!

I quite liked the TSX. I just reckoned because I'm such a g-d picky mo'fo that it must actually be a good car! Since I hate just about everything else!!

Oh and you'll never hear me argue that US car rags, erm, mags (which I refuse to read more because they're written on the level of a 6th grader than because of any other reason) aren't absurdly biased. How a heap like the Honda Accord (I own one... trust me, it's a festering pile of steaming....well you know) makes their "Top 10" list for decades on end. Ugh. It's impossible to bear.

I was more attacking these morons who just blatantly like or dislike a product based on the brand, not the car itself. While I can't say I'm a "fan" of any particular car company, some companies, such as Mazda and Subaru, have mostly made cars I'd consider buying, whereas others, like GM and Toyota, have never fielded anything I'd consider even looking at (Olds Aurora excepted!).

Attacking the "kool-aid" crowd if you will, be it GM, Honda, or whatever flavour...

After looking at some of your posts there, I'm surprised they put up with you for longer than a week. You spent 99% of your time bashing non-GM cars, calling C&D editors all sorts of names, trying to prove that every GM car is better than its competitors and that C&D is anti-american.

You can be a GM fan while liking other car companies as well. I like Fords and Chrysler (NOT ALL CHRYSLERS...Sebring...*shudders*). If nobody supports Ford and Chrysler then the entire Detroit-based automotive industry will go down the tubes.

After looking at some of Car and Driver's reviews there, I'm suprised GM has been putting up with Car and Driver for more than a week. Car and Driver spends 99% of their time bashing non-import cars, calling GM's management all sorts of names, trying to prove that every import is better than their domestic competitors and that GM is anti-American.

Well, if GM was a forum administrator and Car & Driver was an annoying forum member, GM would certainly not be putting up with them very long...

The thing is, GM is a car company and C&D is a car review magazine.
