LOCKED INSIDE _ 2009 CTS DI AWD 4dr w/ 24K miles

A few times last month, 2 different drivers have been LOCKED INSIDE my CTS. Both drivers tried everything possible to get the driver door to unlock and open (electronically and manually). I ended up crawling over the console to get out the front passenger door; I also had to enter the front passenger door and crawl over the console in order to drive back home (all others doors would unlock and open). While sitting at a red light I decided to try opening the driver door by using the door handle and the darn door opened....BUT ...then it wouldn't latch when I closed it. After a few frantic attempts at closing the door....it finally latched. When I got home it opened and shut correctly.

Also, during the last 6 months, the front passenger door lock doesn't always unlock with the key fob or by the power lock button but you can reach over and unlock the door with the manual door lock knob.

I called my dealer to make an appt.(for 1/6/15) and the service mgr acted like he'd never heard of this happening. Anyone else with this problem or anyone know what causes this ? ? ? I would think ELECTRICAL short.... but the door's manual lock wouldn't unlock the door either.

Call Johan de Nysschen, he will personally come and unlock it for you... that's just the way Cadillac rolls these days...

Joking aside, sounds like a one-off problem, hopefully your dealer can quickly diagnose and fix it.

Okay .... I'm a female driver..... I'll bite this one time. What's a ONE-OFF problem.

What I mean is of all the people that have mentioned problems with their Cadillacs on this forum (and there are a few), this one hasn't come up, so it doesn't sound like a common problem. Might be some random defect, and not a major part or fabrication error. Doesn't change the fact that your car doesn't work properly, of course; hopefully it's not a big deal for GM to fix.

Ahhhh okay. If the dealer says it will cost a lot then I'll just trade it in. ;) After all it does have 24K miles on it now.
( The car I traded in when I purchased this Cadi had 23K on it. )

Don't think it's electrical because even with the battery disconnected the interior handle will work. If you have EZkey the exterior handle won't work as it requires power, but the interior handle is all mechanical.

You should probably call Ghostbusters. IF you don't have Johan's number in your index.

If you don't, it's 1-888-CALL-JOH. Try to speak with an Australian accent.

BTW, welcome CWS. Most of the female wimmins have departed GMI for some odd reason. Stick around. There ARE solutions!

LOL, you're funny Paul.

Both sentences. :fall:

I don't have a keyless system.... thank God..... not that I'm much better off than the poor couple in the link you posted (above) on the Dangers of Keyless Entry.

I just find it annoying that the service department mgr. told me that he'd never heard of anyone being locked INSIDE their cadi.

A small calibre revolver should help get you out. Remember to check downrange!

Lock your service manager in the men's room for an hour. Light off a couple of smoke bombs just outside the door. Tell him April Fool!
