One you tuber video..i think road show says 80 examples for 2019 at 100 grand for these suicide doors? And extended rear legroom for largest in class. 400 tt v6 power...

80 for regular doors...

I hope it spurs the continental into a sales success. Ford needs a passenger car win....or eventually they will just make trucks and the mustang

I don't this is about volume, not even for the standard Continental. The truth is this is just a really cool gimmick that will garner plenty of, hopefully, positive press. This is in many ways to Lincoln what the Ford GT is to Ford, a very limited production halo car that with any luck raises the perception of the brand.

Lincoln has the new world class Navigator and soon will have the Aviator in the middle, and the new Corsair on the entry level. If crossovers and SUVs are truly the future then Lincoln is quickly positioning itself to succeed in that space. What Lincoln needs more than anything right now is brand awareness and a high end perception... exactly what this limited edition Continental aims to provide. I'm not saying it'll work, only that I think that is the purpose of this car, rather than immediate volume increases.

80 units are for the 80th year anniversary edition 2019 model. 2020 model will have more units made. This is a feature that should have made available from launch. The car looks better (although not like the concept) already with the doors shut.

Hmmm.

Much ado about not much.

Personally, I don't think this car "wears" the "Coach" doors very well. It looks awkward-ish somehow. Maybe the real-world photos will look better. I hope they sell the number they want to. Even at that price I wonder if it represents a profit, considering how much time and money it took to create it.

There may be enough people out there that:

A: Love Lincolns and think the retro touch is great.

B: Will spend that much money to have one.

I think a lot of people were expecting these doors on a regular production vehicle, and not just a limited once-and-done specialty.

No modern Lincoln will ever look as svelte as the '60s Continentals. It's just simply not possible to mass produce such a vehicle with today's safety regulations.

The only way to get a proper modern Continental is if somebody produces Ford-licensed Continental bodies. Ever heard of ICON Broncos or Revology Mustangs? They basically build them to fit modern standards but without all of the safety crap that affects styling and visibility. They're allowed to skirt the safety regs as long as they build no more than 500 units annually. It's a wonderful idea as long as you're wealthy enough to afford one.

Seriously this looksed tacked on and awful. You know you can get the same effect if you bring a Fusion to West Coast Customs and get suicide doors put on.
We get it, you don't like it as you've already talked crap about it on page 1. Are you going to talk crap again when page 3 gets started?

Continental is already a lackluster product adding "coach doors" (stupid name) isn't going to do anything.

It shouldn't even have 2 pages it's a lazy attempt at trying to be a luxury car. Could you imagine if Cadillac did anything this uninspiring? Everyone on this board would probably lose their ****.
Oh, nope, guess I was wrong. You managed to cram 3 posts of Ford crap talking in 2 pages.

2019 ford is building 80 of these...lol

What the hell is 80 cars...

It probably cost less to build 80 of these cars..sell them off at 100 grand and with all the press actually gets some free publicity..

How could 80 cars built not sell at $100 grand...

80 people shouldnt be too hard to find who want those doors...

Should be a sell out...lol

Next headline in 2019..

New version of lincoln continental sells out in 3 days...

Does it matter that fords only building 80 examples at 100 grand each..ll?

No...in this world of fast news...

The headline is all that matters...

“Lincoln sells out its latest continental...”

EIGHTY CARS!

So instead of adding options and making a version that will have a massive ATP bump, would you prefer that they just quit making it like the CT6? Is that what makes a luxury car, discontinuing it?

Like I said earlier, your posts are comedic gold.

Unfortunately, Continental probably isn't too far behind in the cancellation department, but it has another 2-3 years before that happens..

Continental will be gone soon but like CT6, at least it's going out with a bang.
Maybe they should re-design those doors a bit and call them Homicide Doors. You know, they open when a pedestrian is picked up on the never-fail radar and a door pops open. BOOM!:fall:

I'm betting money that the proposed four-door Mustang has a hypothetical, more luxurious brother. A four-door, Mustang based Continental that is like a slightly larger 6-Series four-door coupe would pair well with a four-door pony and, realistically, would likely do reasonably well as a stand alone. Suicide doors would work well on such a car too. Though, it does strike me that in some ways that car would be more like a modernized late 60's Thunderbird sedan than any recent heritage Lincoln models.

Did I miss the press release where the CT6-V will be a bargain basement price tag?
You must have missed the press release that said they slashed the starting price of almost the entire CT6 lineup.

You must have also missed the press release that it's being discontinued because nobody wants it, despite lowering the price. The CT6-V won't be a collector's item, either. It ain't special.

RIP CT6, nobody liked you.

Put down the cough syrup, nobody said anything about the CT6-V. Regardless the entire CT6 line is done in the US, that isn't something that is in dispute.
