UPDATED 1:10 p.m. DELTA TOWNSHIP — The General Motors Corp. Lansing Delta Township plant is running out of parts to make hot-selling crossover vehicles because of a strike at Alliance Interiors.

And it has forced the Detroit automaker to reduce production at the factory that makes the Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia and Saturn Outlook.

Hourly workers at Alliance, an automotive supplier to the GM assembly plant, walked off the job at 9 p.m. Tuesday night after nearly a year of negotiations on a first contract. Workers there are represented by United Auto Workers Local 724.

With the walkout, no new carpets or other car parts are being shipped from Alliance to the GM Delta plant about two miles away. The crossover vehicles made there have been consistently touted by GM as some of its best-selling vehicles.

The GM plant produced vehicles for about four hours Wednesday morning, said GM spokeswoman Heidi Magyar. Most workers were sent home after that, but a few stayed on for training and other activities.
