So, they've pissed me off. They told my parents (who agreed to it while I was at work - why, I dont know...) that a battery costs $200, and said the reason my battery stopped working is because "new cars do that to batteries" - ^@#^@#$^(*!# bull^@#^!

For anyone in the Puget Sound area... let my hard lesson be a learning experience for ya - these guys are scammers. I'm tempted to call KOMO TV and have them investigate and put these idiots on TV for everyone in the area to see...

OMFG. That's crazy. Can I assume that price includes 1 hour of "troubleshooting" though? Or is that just for the battery, and the labor to change it?

Thank God I do my own maintenance.

Didn't you get ripped off on a coolant leak and serpentine belt before, and your parents agreed to pay something ridiculous like $1500 to fix it? You just don't have any luck I guess, but your parents sure are cool, but unfortunately gullible, to cover expenses like that for you.

Please let his parents know that my badyear ls tarrs is wore out at 2000 miles. New cars do that to tarrs.
I'll need a set from Tire Rack, it should be under 300 bucks, if they could give me their AmEx number.
Thanking you kindly...

I went by the B-P-GMC dealer for an air filter a while back.
They wanted twenty bucks, for the same one I got at NAPA ten minutes later for about six bucks.

Hmmm, I wonder why the dealers are in trouble?

If you work @ a Saturn dealer, why would you even entertain to take your car in for a battery to a competing GM dealer????

I show suggested MSRP for a 04 GTO battery to be $180, however I'd never sell it otherwise. I have those sales priced for $124.90

Was the $200 an installed price or for the battery alone????

A GTO is very much an import as far as parts pricing is concerned, many unique parts, aside from the powertrain itself...if you were looking for cheap...you should have bought a 2004 Cavalier!!!

As for parts pricing...I'm not surprised by the knee-jerk reactions posted...

I consistently retail (& wholesale) many GM maintenence parts for several reasons...

#1...I have them
#2...Priced competitively
#3...right part on the 1st try...

Hmmm, I wonder why the dealers are in trouble?
Some are...some are not.

I've had record sales/profits the last 4 consecutive months...

I understand a dealer not wanting to do such a thing, but there's gotta be a few batteries that are close-e-nuffer to fit and work just fine

It would take about 2min to get it out, Its on the front left under the bonnet. I had mine leak when it was not even 2yrs old, Took it to my dealer and they not only replaced the battery but the tray and bushing clamp over the sway bar, due to acid damage. No troubles since. I have a good dealer for service, Bowser Pontiac here in Pittsburgh.
