Making 550-hp and with available all-wheel drive the F-Type Coupe R is the ultimate Jaguar. . . for now.

The British brand is planning more versions of its new sports car and Andy Goss, Group Sales Operations Director for Jaguar Land Rover promises heightened performance is a part of the plan.

The current AWD F-Type R can hit 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds and blast on to a top speed of 186 mph.

“We’ve taken the F-Type so far but we’ll take it a lot further,” Goss said in an interview with AutoGuide. “We’ll dial in more performance without a shadow of a doubt.”

Goss explained how Jaguar carefully planned the F-Type’s product cadence in order to meet the market demands and now offers both AWD and rear-wheel drive versions as well as automatic and manual transmission models.

“There are other things we’ll undoubtedly do,” said Goss. “The F-Type will be range of products not a product.”

Still, “we’re not aping Porsche,” he said. “We were in this market before they were in this market.”

And so Jaguar will put more focus on volume products in other segments, like with the new XE sports sedan and F-PACE crossover.

“It’s not just about slicing and dicing the market,” he said. “Our imperative is to bring out cars that sell volume.”

And there will be plenty more products. Over the next five years Jaguar Land Rover will bring to market 50 new or updated products, with 12 of those happening this year.

When asked what his aspiration is for the Jaguar brand Goss responded that he wants it to be, “the performance brand of choice.”

“By 2020 you’re going to see just how far we can take that,” he said.

F-Type R has 550HP. JLR has pushed that engine up to 575HP, so that can be F-Type R-S, which would probably be more accessible than the Project 7.

It's such a beautiful car. Really.
They really need to raise the performance bar on this car. It cannot even outrun pony cars.

Pony Cars?? Seriously?

F-Type has nothing to worry about from pony cars. Its competitor is the 911 and the Corvette. F-Type can more than hold its own, even with that venerable V8.

Plus it sounds amazing, so there's that.

My dream car would sound like an F-Type, have a perfectly hardtop version of the 911 cab roof (to perfectly transition between coupe and convertible), 8 or more cylinders, either abysmal or absolutely stellar fuel economy, a Cadillac badge, and a deployable boxing glove that automatically beans any jerkoff drivers in my vicinity.
I look forward to seeing the AWD f type v8.....I want to see the ride height....I hope it's not raised.

I'm sure the new models are still beautiful. I just hope it's not sitting up higher...

In all honesty I begin to see the price of the f type r at around 100 grand is high enough....raising the hp levels etc is just going to raise the price even more...

If it were me buying..the 550 hp version of the f type is more than enough...

I don't even want to find out how much more jaguars going to charge for the upper level versions...

Jmo....and I'm sure they will sell every higher performance version they build...

Thanks for the heads up....and it ll be interesting to see which vehicle sells more units...the f pace or the XE?

I like them both and I m betting the higher volume will land with the cuv ..(dependent on similar costs for both vehicles)

I was shopping cars with a buddy of mine and all kindling aside the jaguar XJ L was sweet...

I didn't realize how much I would like that car.....very nice.

Jaguar is truly an impressive brand,,,

I'm curious to see if the AWD car has a positive impact on performance. The RWD was overwhelmed by the power, it couldn't even hang with a Stingray at VIR with a 100hp deficit.

I think time has been very kind to the XJ and it looks as good today as it did when it was first revealed. Hopefully the mild MCE it's about to get adds even more polish and improves the interior where I think it lags a little behind the likes of Audi and Mercedes. I've been watching Sherlock on Netflix, and Mycroft gets ferried around in a black one and it just looks so nice.
