I feel like having a project on my hands. I have a 2004 Sunfire and I want to replace the interior light with a white LED light.

I have the general idea in my head but in terms of the voltage for that light, how can I figure that out?

I'd check for a conversion bulb first. There might be one. There's at least one good source online for LED replacements, but I can never remember what it's called...sorry. If that doesn't work...Ohm's Law. :yup:

A car's system runs on 12Vdc. Most LEDs require 5Vdc and are polarized, so that voltage will only run one way through them. The D does stand for Diode after all. So you'd need a load resistor to limit the voltage and make sure you hook it up the right way. But that's why there's companies that make plug in options these days for LED lighting in most applications.
