Hello. I'm in the market for a used 1500 w/ Extra Cab, 4WD, AT, up to the year of 2002. If I had my druthers, I'd get a 99-02 with the 5.3L engine and the Z71 suspension. Is there anything I should be on the lookout for (problems and/or good things) with these trucks?

Thanks in advance for sharing yours, or your friends' experiences.

There's also the issue of cold-start piston slap, as well as rattley U-joints in pre-2002 models.

Yes later trucks are better, drivability and some mechanical.

Other than piston slap the only other common thing is R.R inside brake pad wearing prematurely.
