OK, so the other night I went through the local carwash at the Shell station with the antenna still up. There, I said it. Get your laughs out of the way now, I'll wait....

So now I need to replace the antenna (it's still there and the radio still works, but it is bent and will not retract anymore). I looked on eBay and found a few replacement assemblies for pretty cheap, but I wasn't sure if they would fit my car - 2000 Saab 9-3 Convertible. One even said outright it would not fit on the convertible. Is there a better place to find one without digging through a junkyard?

Also, once I find one is it pretty easy to replace? I'm pretty dumb with cars but somewhat mechanically inclined, so I am thinking it will probably be pretty easy.

Anyway, help is appreciated, and please try to refrain from calling me names (hey, at least I got to enjoy the radio while my car was being washed!)

Power antennas in general are easier to replace as an assembly on newer cars. Did one on a 98 'vertable a while ago, they are fairly easy to do and out in the open if I remember right, biggest thing is going to be unscrewing the ring around the mast with out scratching the paint if you don't have the "proper" tool.

Side Note: last time I told a friend he could handle replacing a part on his truck it cost him a new intake. ('99 454 coolant "quick disconnect" on the intake)

Happy hunting
