Look like the Cruze slaughtered Focus sales in January. BMW & Mercedes seem to be offering a alternative for ex Falcons and Commodores buyer that are going. Ford Ranger is now Ford's best seller, very sad to see the Falcon is almost gone with just 381 sales as its production comes to an end with its last updated model. Ford sales ouch -21%. Ford is paying dearly the price of stopping local production and is not assimilated as ‘truly Australian’ anymore by car buyers.

Do the Australians get the same Focus we get in NA? I know the Cruze is the same minus the grille and RHD.

If so, I'm not too surprised. The Cruze is a solid car.
Don't kid yourself

cruze is up because they discounted the **** out of it
Wow Ford was the biggest loser for the month by far, I hope they bottom out soon and find a way to restart Australian sales. If they keep this up they will be out of the top 10 by the end of the year. Hopefully the Everest will help out; when does it arrive?

I've driven multiple Cruze's. I don't think they're a bad car compared to the other compacts we have here in America. Is it best in class? No. Is it worst in class? Again, no. It's solid as I said, and a nice discount makes it that much more attractive.
I am surprised that prices for imported cars haven't skyrocketed since the exchange rate changed from over 1 to back to 0.78. Does this mean they ripped us off when the exchange rate was 1. methinks they did.

It's been on sale longer here - and it shows

Probably just the slowing effect of forward currency buying.

I've noticed that Mazda have cut the prices of their Japanese manufactured cars "because of the new FTA".

And with the Aussie $ heading south very quickly (it's lost 20% in 6 months), It will be interesting to see how long it takes before prices start to rise again.
