Guess How Many GM Vehicles Are On The New Safety Top Pick List?

Go ahead and count them!

I would say that TWO vehicles out of NINETY is a pretty poor showing for General Motors.

Congratulations to RAM for getting a pickup listed - something Ford and GM managed not to do.

These results need some IMMEDIATE attention from GM. Put the EV commercial making work on hold for a week, and concentrate on bringing your vehicles up to date from a safety perspective. People follow these results and spend their dollars accordingly.

There can not be an excuse for producing the safest vehicle possible in all categories.

Many of the problems here for GM have to do with poor (and outdated) halogen headlights. Really, here in 2021 all vehicles should come standard with the maximum power LED headlamp fixtures. It's just so important and cost so very little to upgrade to.

In addition, some of GM's newer vehicles may not have been tested yet, so perhaps there is hope. Notably missing are the new BOF SUVs. I hope it's just a case of late testing.

Yup, you got it Perian. IIHS hasn't yet released test results for 2021 Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, and Escalade. I'm not sure they've been tested at all, actually. The previous gen GM BOF SUVs weren't tested by IIHS.

Interestingly, the only vehicles currently listed in the Large SUV category of IIHS' vehicle ratings are four Audis.

Bad press for sure.

In reality, there isn't a vehicle sold in this country today that is unsafe.

If you go to the site and click on the Cadillac XT6, which is on this list, it takes you to a testing page where most of the results are for its corporate cousin/platform mate, the GMC Acadia. So, how is the Acadia not on this list? Headlights maybe? I know that has been an issue with some GMC models in the recent past.

Does GM even offer any non-luxury small or midsize sedans anymore? The dead man walking Malibu? We know that isn't going to be changed/updated.

It would be better if GM had top marks for their vehicles, but I agree with ksr, there really aren't any "unsafe" mainstream cars sold in the U.S. at this time.

What make this ranking important?

2021 CT5 gets five stars (out of five) in every NHTSA category. What is different about these rankings?

LED headlamps on T1XX Silverado 1500 perform well in terms of distance and intensity. The main reason IIHS assigned a "poor" rating is because of excessive glare for other motorists.
