Did it finally get sold or something??? I'm confused
maybe to someone that wants to make a large parking lot or a golf course.

This is VERY good news for the Camaro.

wasnt lutz quoted when the factory was shut down that the names camaro and firebird would never come out of factory by a different name in respect for the many years the camaro was made by these people.

wouldnt this be bad news for the camaro?

I think part of the original agreement was that as long as the Ste. Therese plant existed, GM could not build the a Firebird or Camaro anywhere else.

Good News indeed B)

here is a "better" pic:

mine is second from the right
No offense, but the third gen cars in that photo came from the Van Nuys, CA assembly plant, not St. Therese. All third gen cars were built in Van Nuys. Ironically, when the plant closed in 1992, they turned it into a freaking movieplex and a Babies R Us.

Some things are just not right!

well, that was a group pic, much nicer than the first one-hehe-

about the thirdgen remark, you should know that up through the '87 model year, the 3rd gen were built in TWO different plants: Norwood Ohio and Van Nuys California. The Norwood plant (the ones with good, long lasting paint) closed after the 87 production run. From 88 all f-bods were done at the second factory (water based enamel).

<---- Has a Norwood Camaro.

and like someone said, the Camaro/Firebird name was tied into the Ste.T plant, so thats why they couldnt say the name "Camaro" anymore. They moved all of the workers and then some over to Oshawa. Only people that are upset are the locals who dont have a car plant there anymore.

As all of the Camaro/Firebird fans would be likely to quote....

"They paved paradise and put up a parking lot."
psh... paradise?
Like someone said on another site, this was the "Berlin Wall" for the Camaro name.
