I wonder how "redesigned" the interior is, and if this (hopefully) will carry over in some form to the Suburban / Silverado? (They sure need it)

What's with the CTS engine? Some lower priced base model? The 3.2 was only still in the lineup so GM could offer a manual transmission, I thought. If the 3.6 will be made available with a manual as promised for 2005, I figured they'd drop the 3.2 and go all 3.6. Neat "2.8L" engine tho. Hadn't heard of that. Hope that gets used in some other GM vehicles....perhaps a Saturn L-series replacement?

"Export" models of the CTS have had a 2.6L version of the previous 3.2L V-6 since introduction. We just didn't see it in the USA, but it's been in the parts database from day one. Initially, the 3.2L V-6 is being used with manual trans CTS V-6s while the new 3.6L DOHC is with the automatics.

I would not be surprised if the V-6/manual trans variation is dropped as Lincoln ended up dropping the manual trans option on the Linclon LS due to not enough sales to justify it. CTS export models might be different due to market and fuel economy issues, though.

Enjoy!

Any idea what the ratings of the 2.8 will be (hp/torque)?
HP numbers are around 200HP, and torque is about 220lb/ft.

Why would they want to sell the CTS with a weaker engine than the 3.2L in the US?
it's only about 20HP lower than the 3.2L and torque is about the same. i'd still feel shafted, but you're still getting a good car.

anyway, i thought the 2.8L V6 was a japan-only engine for the CTS. is this info correct? maybe someone got confused and made a mistake while presenting their info? please tell me this is the case.

I don't understand why you wouldn't want to give the consumer as many choices as possible (without hurting yourself). If a 2.8 CTS can compete with a 325 on price and performance while offering more room that will help people who can't afford more than 30k.
