The LaCrosse will be more lexusy, the front is a cross between a GS### and a Hyundai Sonata from the pictures that I have seen.

As I said, I have a problem with the front end. It looks like some Chinese guy with buck teeth.

I would like to see the waterfall grill toned down just abit, and maybe go with rounder headlights. I understand the waterfall grill is going to be Buick, but they could maybe tone it down abit.

Overall, though I like the concept of the LaCrosse.

Screw Lexus. Make it a Buick.

funny you should mention improving the 3.8.. because that is what GMs new 3.9L is... it has VVT, and will in the future have have DOD. Oh and its a low end torque monster.

It will appear first in the g6.

Actually the 3800 is a cutoff of the old Buick small block, so its a 90 degree V6. The new 3.9L is part of GM's new Global V6 engine family and is based on a 60 degree block. So the 3.9L is a completely new engine

Although it does improve on GM's large powerful V6 offerings. The 3.9L is also much narrower than the 3800 because it's a 60 degree engine, which is why it will be offered in smaller cars like the G6.

Does anyone know how long the 3800 is still going to be produced?

It seems that the LaCrosse will be an interesting & exciting vehicle when it come out next year. Bob Lutz says he wants to make Buick the "American Lexus". Well that's quite a title, and if that's the direction that he's trying to go in there are somethings that I'm wondering, like if the LaCrosse will have options such as: one touch up and down windows, one touch open and close sunroof, HID headlights, an optional V-8 engine just to name a few. Can someone tell me the price range of the vehicle I've heard $25,000 to $35,000. And can someone tell me other options and features this car might have

The pics were taken down, because GM didn't want low quality images of the new LaCrosee.

I was told by a Buick dealer that the LaCrosse name will be dropped because in Montreal LaCrosse means self gratification. Did any one else hear this?

I've heard that they'll just call it something different in Canada, but it'll say the LaCrosse in the US.

This is true it will stay, LaCrosse in the United States, however the Canadian name has not been veryfied yet.

The canadian name has been finalized... but is not public. Also, the 3800 wouldn't be the only engine available in an american lexus, now would it?

As it has been said before, there probably will be another eingine offered, but this is all the info I ahve on it for now..

Last report I read was that the Lacrosse name would be dropped altogether, as they don't want to have to market the exact same car differently for 2 areas.

About 6 weeks ago or so, it was announced that Buick's 3800 V-6 would be in production a few years longer than suspected, until about 2008 (as I recall). That "meager" 200 horsepower will really get the job done too. Check the road tests and it'll usually put the Regal to 60mph in the mid-7 second range or close to it. A really great blend of performance, mileage, power, and durability.

The 3.5L V-6 in the new Malibu is an upgrade from the existing 3.1/3.4L Chevy V-6 and is now called "Vortec". The design upgrade has given it a really good infusion of power and torque. The 3.9L should be similar. In the end, all of the GM engines will have DOD, as I've read somewhere, but that's still a year or so off as it all gets phased into production.

The other reason the 3800 might have gotten an extension is due to supply issues with the 3.6L DOHC V-6. Plus the fact that continuing the 3800 and doing some evolutionary improvements and updates are much less expensive and easier to do than replace a whole engine plant facility for the sake of change. The fact that it's a less expensive engine to produce is definitely a factor too as that lets GM spend money in other parts of the car other than the powertrain and still hit their targeted selling price.

HIDs and HUDs might be neat, but as for the HID, it's the beam pattern that makes a headlight instead of just the light source. The Cadillac people told us that GM had taken pains to get as much of the blue spectrum light out of the HIDs on the SRX as they could, so that same orientation might also extend to the rest of the GM line that will offer those lights. HUDs can be neat too, but if you really know your vehicle, why do you need to look through a display to see the road? Plus, it takes a special windshield with a more satiny surface (where the HUD will project the images) to get an image from the HUD to reflect as desired.

By the same token, I priced an HID bulb for an Escalade. How about $300.00 retail and NOT something you'll find at your local auto parts store and not at many GM dealers. If it's a transformer that's needed, it's complete headlight assembly time, which is over $1000.00. On the Escalade, HID is only on the low beams. I would certainly hope their increased life span will be equal to their increased price over a normal 55W halogen bulb.

A leopard dosen't change it's spots and neither does a GM beancounting/suit. Thats why they are using the 3.8 in a new Buick. These people never had and never will have a brain. The people at Toyota and Honda must laugh their asses off at these incompitent boobs.

Enough about the bean counters already. Yes the 3800 is cheap to build, but you're forgetting that its also reliable, smooth, and torquey!
