GMC just brought back a classic nameplate at the 2017 Dubai International Motor Show.

Officially called the Desert Fox Middle East Concept Truck, this 2018 Sierra 1500 was designed to celebrate GMC's long and rich heritage in the region.

Easily one of the best looking GM trucks of all time, the '77 Desert Fox was a special edition package available on all permutations of GMC C/K 1500 trucks. It offered Buckskin paint with five different colored stripes layered over top, along with a dual CIBIE lamps mounted to the top bar and PA6 sport wheels.

The 2018 truck wears a similar desert and multi-colored stripe motif as the original while dipping heavily into the GM Accessory catalog. Off-the-shelf parts include the sports bar, performance exhaust, and LED roof lights.

It also gets its own fair share of bespoke parts, like the off-road spec front and rear bumpers, Baja-style fenders, desert running tires, beadlock wheels, and a recovery winch.

"While GMC has a very bright future ahead, it is important that we don't forget where we've come from. Having been part of the automotive fabric of the region for over 90 years, we wanted to share this legacy here at the show in the shape of the original Desert Fox Jimmy," said Sajed Sbeih, Head of Brand for GMC Middle East. "At the same time, we wanted to honor our past by updating the Desert Fox for the 21st century, thus creating this Concept Truck exclusively for the Middle East."

Alongside the Desert Fox, GMC also showed off the latest from its Denali sub-brand, including the new-for-2018 Terrain, the 2018 Yukon Denali featuring GM's new 10-speed automatic, and the 2018 Acadia Denali.
