I have 2008 Chevy Silverado with steel wheels and its design is such they hold water in its inside edge consequently beginning to rust right there..all around this edge..
While these wheels are made of fairly thick steel I doubt they would rust thru and fail,still I think GM designers should create better designed wheels that wouldn't have such unsightly and potentially problematic issue..
I solved this problem by painting this rusted edge with rust converting Por 15 coating which luckily is exactly same color as the wheels making it look like new again..
