We should have guessed that Chevy would do something to celebrate the vernal equinox yesterday (March 20th).

Have to give credit where credit is due to GM's marketing dweebs. Releasing the Equinox EV video on the vernal equinox was clever.

Back in 2016, Chevrolet debuted the D2XX Equinox on the autumnal equinox:

18 months away, I wonder if they'll be able to move this up. Fall 2023 for the RS, availability of the LT shown at later date.

Certainly would be nice. Though I assume it all depends on how fast they can get the Ultium production plants up and running.

A thought is they are launching Ultium with higher priced vehicles (Hummer, Lyriq) not only for the profit aspect and the related marketing splash (Hummer/Lyriq are more exciting than the Equinox) but also that they are lower volume. Gives them more time with less volume exposure to correcting early production problems.

I don't know man. I must just be a stubborn millennial or something. Really not a fan of EVs. Just not a fan of anything newer than 2010s. Not a fan of all the electronics, infotainment, sensors, etc. I don't like the vehicle telling me how to drive. My brother just bought a 2022 Tahoe loaded. Nice and all. Drove it. But when I drove back home in my '87 Chevy, I just couldn't stop smiling. Cable throttle, hydraulic R&P, the sound of the TBI V8. I also have a '69 C20 350, '01 Cherokee XJ 4.0, '06 Grand Prix 3800, '09 Cobalt 2.2. EVs are looking good though. But I can tell that a shade tree mechanic like my self will find these EVs probably near impossible to repair, upgrade, modify. But I would LOVE the Chevy eCrate motor.

They get them so they go 450 miles on a charge and can recharge in 15 minutes or less and you can find charging stations in the same amount as gas stations then we will talk assuming there is any chance you can actually afford one for less than $60000 . I also have BIG doubts on how these will hold up on the salt laden roads of the northern states . All I know is every time I go by the Tesla repair place the lot is filled and they dont even sell any of the cars there .

I like the light bar treatment, reminds me of a more modern take on what Mercury was doing in the 80s and early 90s with their tail lights. Of course I love 80s aesthetics so I dig it. It seems these door handles that retract when not in use are starting to pop up on every manufacturer now.

I assume the recessed door handles are to improve aerodynamics. As long as they don't break I like them. My '94 Grand Prix GTP had recessed handles (up in the B-pillar if you remember that). Was great until that day there was an ice storm and I had to use a little force to open the door. Door stayed iced shut and the handle broke....

Interesting about the 80's aesthetics. I never warmed to Ford/Mercury's styling - looked kind of droopy to me. I like the tail light itself (that you pictured), but not how they positioned it on the car.

So when do we get to see the ICE model? That is my question and I think it will manage to be the volume model. However, the EV isn’t too hard on the eyes either.

Just my reason two cents;

love the two tone. Hate the gold bow tie. Don’t want to pay to fix GM’s ugly taste. Wish the voltec technology had been more successful because I didn’t want to go full EV and still think it was a great alternative.
